Draught at Enya, Nikko. Black with beige creamy head. Rich on chocolate and molasses. Mid sweet with oily mouthfeel. Thick and solid with chocolate sauce and salty minerals as main features. Finishes with low amounts of cocoa bitterness. Quite flavourful, but rather simplistic not nearly as pleasant as Asahi Stout.

Slightly aged bottle. Lovely, shiny black with a bubbly, high, tan head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, and a bit of soy sauce. Creamy and smooth. flavor of chocolate and cafe au lait, with a well-managed bitterness, and berries. Very smooth, creamy mouth. Well done beer. Their best by miles.

Canned in Nenoue Kogen, Ena. Pale yellow, brief but rich head. Fruity nose. Sweet and thin with unusual adjunct flavour - sort of like buckwheat and rice. Finishes without bitterness. Not really unpleasant, but lame.

Canned(350ml). -Brought by a friend from Tokyo. Yellow coloured, almost no head, few bubbles of carbonation, dusty nose. Quite odd and also weak taste. Sweet perfumed water with faint touch of hops. Strange but not offensive.

Canned(350ml). -Brought by a friend from Tokyo. Who would say that I’ll be the first one to rate some Japanese beer!!! Yellow coloured, soapy white head that went away fast, no carbonation at all. Weak, weak nose; just tiny touch of malt. Totally tasteless with subdued notes of something (corn maybe). Short finish.
You don’t drink every day a new beer from Japan, so I think I was too generous with this one.

12oz bottle at the Cherry Blast art event in SE Washington DC. I actually liked this better than the regular Kirin Ichiban in terms of flavor. Still your standard pale lager, grassy, metallic aroma. Industrial flavor. Dry finish.

12 ounce can courtesy of Proteus93. Thanks! Pours a pale golden color with a medium fizzy head. Poor head retention and weak attempts at lacing. Aroma is a mess... grain, sweet malts, mustiness. Taste is very grain with subtle vegetal, green banana and rice. Sweet finish. Thin bodied. Very interesting and I actually find this a bit preferable than a lot of pale lagers as its more refreshing and more complex. That being said I am disinclined to try it again.
