Description
Founded by Karan Bilmoria in 1989. The beer was initially brewed at Mysore Breweries in India but, from 1996, was brewed under contract in the UK by Charles Wells. The company went into administration in 2009 and the business was acquired by a joint venture company owned 50.1% by Molson Coors and 49.9% by Karan Bilmoria. Since then the majority of the beer has been brewed at Molson Coors UK’s Burton brewery but the company also has production facilities in Patna, India.

(Bottle 33 cl) Clear, pale golden with a small, white head. Very neutral aroma with only the faintest hint of malt. Incredibly thin and watery body. No flavours of anything - actually it’s sort of a scientific achievement to remove all flavours and yet still maintain 4.3% ABV. But very quenching - just like water is. 290106

A light yellow beer with a white head. The aroma is totally dominated by straw, while the flavor is a combination of straw and malt. Boring.

Bottle. Clear golden colour with a small fast disappearing white head. Some malty aroma. Slightly sweet malt in the aroma, weak hints of hops. Not much bitterness in the aftertaste. Maybe you need some hot indian food with this beer.

Bottled. Pale golden colour with a medium white head. Regular lager and that is about it. A bit dull

(Bottle 33 cl) Neatly fully golden beer with a small, discreet head. Brewed with both corn and rice adding to the light feel in this. Ends quite hoppy. A decent quencher and nothing more. 020203

Bottled. Pale, pale golden with almost no head and carbonation. Tastes more like a bland lemon soda-pop than a beer. The bitterness is all gone, and the little flavor and aroma is just a hint of citric fruits. The commercial description should be taken to court, as it can be categorized as a fraud. Most of this one went down the sink. (051112)

330 ml clear bottle, bought in Norway. As if the European brewed "Indian" Cobra was not boring enough, they HAD to brew this special low carb version for slimmers who really don’t like beer, but like the buzz. God, I hate the low carb craze! This "beer" is very pale golden, foamy white head. Fruity aroma, citrus, pineapple and maize, could have been worse. "Flavour" is very bland and tasteless, just a hint of fruity sweetness. No bitterness. Very thin and watery mouthfeel. Extremely flat and bland aftertaste, as far as there is any at all. This is definitely a beer to avoid.

660ml bottle. Pale gold, thick white head, bit unpleasant nose, but some hop, overall though not a great aroma. Good in mouth, quite smooth, some butter, not overly carbonated. Finish has more buttery hop. Not much fruit. Smooth easy drinking. Can almost taste the curry.

Golden lager with floaties imported from the Gange river. Hay and malt aroma, a bit chalky. In mouth, crisp malts with a little german style hops. Not as bad as decribed below, rather like the Wells Lager. Still, a low 2 for me. Beers of the World, fall 2004.

Clear light yellow color. Skunky aroma, rotten hops, some corn. Taste is bit dry, weak, watery. Quite crappy pale lager.
