Bottle that my dad got me from Brittany, France, June 2011 consumed 28.07.11 Pours mid amber bit hazy. The alcohol is very much to the for, some burnt bitterness amongst a heavy malty body. Actually it’s really quite murky, some strong stewed tea flavours, Loz doesn’t like it and to be fair she is a very good judge of beers, it’s ok. A5 A3 T6 P3 Ov11 2.8

bottle from Village de la Bière Strasbourg. Hazy golden yellow, large white head. Grainy and malty, aroma of bublegum and lemonade. Not sweet, rather dry palate with a shy fruity background.

33cl bottle. Pours a hazy lemon colour with some head and very gentle bubble. The nose has lemon sorbet and yoghurt. The taste has more lemon with a background malt note, then yeast with some hops at the end. The palate has medium structure, a creamy texture and a fairly clean finish. Overall, a like this style a lot and it’s a fairly good example.

33cl bottle. Pours a colour somewhere amber and chestnut, a bit hazy with some head which mostly fades quickly. The nose has caramel and a touch of herby hops. The taste has more of this sweet toffee/caramel with still some nice refreshing green notes on the end - maybe into pine and grapefruit this time. The palate is medium to large in structure and texture and the finish is quite clean. Overall, a really good beer!

33cl bottle. Pours a cloudy amber colour with not much head and some bubbles. The nose has a little smoke and toffee - the smoke is not overpowering. The second smell gives a big whiff of whisky. The taste has gingerbread, some cake mixture. The palate has a medium structure, a creamy texture and although it doesn’t completely clean on the end, it does make you want the next drink. Overall, I like this - the whisky and smokiness is not overpowering and it’s got drinkability.
