Dark golden colour. White lively head. Bitter orange peel aroma. Sparkling mouth-feel. Orange peel and anise flavour. Dry alcohol-finish. A nice alternative to champagne.

$29.99 now appearing in Wichita, KS. (Apparently there are 18 bottles in the state). Definitely overpriced for what it is, but still a nice, curious and interesting beer. Pours a bright golden, with a huge foaming head and strong carbonation in the glass. Cork removal was very easy, only slight gushing, but a very difficult and slow pour. Like champagne you only get a few ounces at a time, not a beer intended for drinking by the pint obviously. Aroma redolent with lemon and spice: lemongrass, cardamom, coriander, a bit of dough. Very spicy flavor, cardamom and coriander, a little less lemongrass. Carbonic bite, very fizzy. Heady alcoholic finish. Semi-dry finish powered by spices. Definitely a sipper.

Clear darker coloured body with a frothy white head. Aroma of grass, coriander seed, curacao and pepper. Light to Medium-bodied; Nice full-flavoured taste with traditional belgian white characteristics. Overall, very nice-definately one to try! I sampled this beer on 15-May-2004 at the May RB Party in Toronto, Onatrio.

Hazy blond color; generous head, light; wonderful perlage. It has a very nice aroma, with coriander and oranges; it’s a bit soapy too, and lightly herbal (rosemary, mirth). Good body strength; spicy and herbal flavor, malt; it seems quite sweet now, also because the bitterness is gone. It doesn’t show signs of age; still interesting, but a bit too herbal.

Tastes like a strange Triple; some alcohol punch, a bit oily, honey (mead-like…).

(draught) Deep amber colour, clear; head is amber as well, creamy, but is too influenced by the glass by half. Ambrée and cookie malt nose. Cookies, or more precisely cake, or sweet pie-bottom. It’s just a tad roasted. Not my favourite style, but it’s done in an appropriate way. Compliments. Medium bodied, just a bit dry. Sweetness remains until the aftertaste, but it never imposes itself to the detriment of the overall. It gets liqueurish in the aftertaste, the alcohol coming through. Pauwel Kwak was a tad lowered in alcohol during its existence. Exceptionally, I think they didn’t do it a disservice, the other one had a too -fast-enough streak.

Cloudy yellow beer with a thick, lasting white head. Fresh aroma with lemon, coriander, fruits and honey. Lemon and candy flavour with a hint of alcohol. Big almost oily mouthfeel.

Draft. Clear amber beer with a thin white head. Yeast and spice aroma, but not that strong. Banana and yeast flavors that are a bit overshadowed by the bubblegum taste. Too sweet and not enough depth.

Bottle Pours a very light pale hazy blonde. A very agressive white head that left nice lacing. Aroma is fruity including bananas, apples. Flavour was sweet and a bit spicey. Cloves, bananas again. Quite sweet. Nice feel, smooth, carbonation is lively but soft. Pleasant mild lingering aftertaste.

Bottled. Golden colour, champagnelike sparkling head. Aroma of malt anf toffee. Firm and full bodied, yet with light, sparkling mouthfeel. Medium sweet. Fresh and peppery. Very complex, yet drinkable. A good beer, but only the presentation is really fantastic.
