On tap at the brewery. Proper name is session #24. This is the brewers version of kvass made with dark rye bread. Darker than the regular kvass but just as clowdy. Aroma is somewhat tart. Interesting attitude on the first taste. Perhaps not as fun as the original kvass becuase its not as tangy and I like sour beers. Not much carbonation. Easy to drink and it goes down way too easy. Interesting and pecuiliar aftertaste, makes me want more.

On tap sample at East End, although it was called Session 24, there. This poured a brownish color with a pretty substantial head and aromas that were of rye bread and had a bit of sweetness. Flavor is very light, yet full. I was surprised to learn that this was brewed with baker’s yeast, but it does leave a different flavor in the mouth. This was interesting, but doesn’t strike a chord as a new favorite.

On tap sample at East End. Poured a pale gold and supported a decent head with floral hops and fruit aromas... a bit of lemon and some grass. Flavor is a pretty good reflection of that, as well. It has a nice malt presence, but its true interest lies in the fruit (pears, lemon and apricot) and the grassy, slightly peppery, aftertaste. This is pretty solid.

On tap at East End. Pours an orangish amber with a pretty substantial head. Nose is full with hops goodness. A lot of citrus and a little bit of floral hops are there. Flavor is excellent as well. Lots of balance between the malt and hops with a bit more of a pine/grapefruit in the finish.

Bottle #1184 (2006) pours out a redish amber topped with a off white head. Aroma of pit fruit and sweetness. Tast much more of the sweetness a nice caramel and hop tast. Thanks Toby

Sampled on draft at the Maproom this beer poured an orange-amber color with a medium sized yellow-white head. The aroma was a lovely mix sweet, tart and fruity hops. The flavor was full on strong sweet, tart and fruity hops. Very one dimensional but an excellent dimension. Delicious.

Sampled on draft at the Maproom this beer poured a murky medium brown color with a trace of a tan head. The aroma was dry sourdough bread. The flavor was sweet, tangy and bready with a light cutrusy element. The finish was long, tangy and bready. Reminded me of a nice dunkelweizen. Interesting.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of Storm. Hazy and opaque amber golden with a beige head. Oxidized aroma of caramel and overripe fruit. Quite full-bodied, a little low in carbonation, overripe fruit, caramel and vanilla. Some bitterness in the finish. 290509

Bottled. An unclear orange-brown beer with an orangey head. The aroma has notes of sweet malt, caramel, and hops. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of hops as well as medium notes of caramel and dust, and light notes of alcohol.

Blind tasting at Papsø’s
Hazy amber to dark amber color; small creamy head. Nice aroma of caramel and American hops, a bit dusty later, then hazelnuts. Very good mouthfeel, both for the strength and for being smooth; excellent caramel flavor, sweet enough for my tooth, with an extreme hopping that brings some resins, some oils and some fruitness (oranges). There is a good balance between the sweetness, the fruit touch and the bitterness; also the alcohol warming final contributes. Strong and powerful final. Excellent!
