Citrus and pine hops with a solid malty, caramel backbone. It’s a really easy to drink IPA that still offers up plenty of hop flavor and bitter feel. This is quite the sessionable IPA. Not a palate killer so moving to other beers is still on the table.

2009 gusher thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a huge, deep brown head over a near black body. Aroma of brown sugar, toffee, bitter chocolate, coffee and oak. Taste is dry with some bitter cocoa, bitterness, and a touch of sourness. Chalky. Lively carbonation.

Sampled on draft at the Rivertowne Pub in North Huntingdon PA this beer poured a dark red-caramel color with a small khaki head that produced good lacing. The aroma was light floral and fruity hops. The flavor was dry and bitter with a touch of nut and a crisp floral and fruity hop presence. The finish was long, dry, bitter and hoppy. Body was a touch thin. Decent.

Great packaging, with the green wax and the brown paper. Unfortunately, the beer is flat, and in some barley wines, that works. This is not one of them. Some oxidation. Aroma has brown sugar and malt, and it is a little sweet. High abv is well hidden. A well made beer, but something went wrong, maybe in bottling.

Sampled from a 1L bottle at the Hopsnobbery Collective Stout tasting on 01/23/10. Pours a sludgy opaque black with a medium tan head that diminishes quickly. Top ring of lacing on the glass. Aroma of burnt malt, coffee and dark chocolate. there was a touch of paint thinner in the nose at first but it disappeared quickly. Full body with flavors of roasted coffee, charred wood, malt and hops. The finish is roasty with a lingering coffee and bittersweet chocolate aftertaste. Easily the best East End beer I have tried, and a very good Imperial Stout overall.
