IF you are an IPA lover, please overlook my numbers as I rate by how much I enjoy the brew, not by style. This stuff was tremendously ON STYLE! Big thanks to Scott at the Pgh RB gathering 12/09, and I hope he’ll forgive me on this. Mild hop resin aroma mixed with fresh pine sap. Big bitter pine sap flavors intially coat the palate. Way too much for a lager lover. Wew! Big beer with a big personality. Strong and oily, did somebody forget to rinse the dishsoap out of my glass? Long bitter linger that makes me take a half hour break before I can taste anything. No detectable carbonation to speak of but what was probably there was shocked out of my senses by the overwhelming flavors of green grapefruit rinds. If you love IPA or DIPA, you better arrange a trade for this beauty!

At the RB Pgh gathering 12/09. Some what apply aroma. Tart and dry on the first taste. Cloudy pale yellow with what I perceive to be an almost greenish hint. Mild carbonation. Tastes like many homebrewed ciders. Not sweet or even comparable to the masss comercial ciders. More lifelike in all respects. Get this while its available, only in growlers.

Sampled on draft at the Headkeeper in Greensburg PA this beer poured a black color with a medium sized khaki head that lingered. The aroma was dryish roasty coffee with notes of cocoa, licorice and fruity hops. The flavor was toasty and roasty with notes of coffee, cocoa, vanilla and light fruity hops. There was a long cocoa and coffee finish that turned a touch bitter. Full bodied and smooth. Excellent.

BA trade, bottle # 1184/1500, yellow wax. The wrapping itself is worth a rating. pours dark/cloudy ruby, thick off white head. Aroma has some amazing hoppy/citrus nose, with caramel malts and fruits. Flavor, dark/brown sugar, caramel malts, thin bitter hops. Got some tropical fruits elements adding for a sweet smooth palate coupled with medium carbonation and grainy finish mixed with caramel.

Big huge 1L bottle. Pours a dingy tannish color that I don’t think I’ve seen before. Just a little whisp of a head and aromas that are OK, but kinda bland. A bit of apple juice sweetness, a little grass and light spice and just a hint of citrus and pine, but I’m wondering just what this IIPA has in store at this point. Flavor is much better... lots of citrus and pine hops dominate the aftertaste and flush the apple sweet malt flavors off the palate. There’s a little bit of an astringent alcohol presence and a little yeasty spice in there too. Mouthfeel is kind of silky finish is pretty bitter with just a hint of lingering apples.

Courtesy of tpd975. Pours cloudy copper with a bit of tiny floaties and nice white head. The modest aroma brings a few malty notes mixing with apricot, oxidized prunes, spice and a bit of grassy to piney hops. The taste starts with a pleasing mix of grapefruit, pine and then apricot fruitiness. Midway the malts show up just pushing aside the other flavors enough to get noticed. Nice brew.

This one just did not work for me. Sampled on draft at the Sharp Edge Beer Emporium this beer poured a dark orange-amber color with a huge fluffy beige head. The aroma was faint, dry and mildly hoppy. The flavor was tangy and bitter with light floral hops and a touch of nutty malts. The finish was short. The body seemed a bit thin. Not much character to it.

Sampled on draft at the Map Room in Regent Square this beer poured a dark orange-caramel color with a large orange-beige head that lingered. The aroma was strong sweet fruity hops with a light peppery undertone. The flavor was strong sweet fruity hops, tangy malts and hints of caramel and nut. The finish was long, tangy, sweet and full of fruity hops. Not very bitter despite the impressive hop presence. Fairly full bodied. Very nice.

@Tampa Wkly Gathering courtesy Greg/tpd975-1L bottle-pours a thin white head and cloudy yellow/gold color. Aroma is yeast, medium fruit-apricot, light malt. Taste is yeast, medium fruit-apricot, light malt, some tart lemon.

2007 bottle courtesy of Kinz. Thanks! Pours a hazy reddish brown color with a thin head. Big, huge toffee aroma with nougat, caramel and faint hops. Taste is toffee, raisins and bitter leafy hop notes. Full bodied. Just a spot on malty barleywine. Well done. 8/3/8/4/16
