On tap at the brewery, nice place. Very light hazy bright yellow color, almost borders on neon under these warehouse lights. Nice head, Hoppy and quite light in body. Hoppy and light flavors at the same time. Cannot taste the oak thing in this one. Typical east end beer aroma, light and friendly. Cannot detect much hop on the olfactory. Overall, acceptable even for somebody who doesn’t like hops. Finish is medium watered down hop bitterness.

Thanks to puzzl for sharing - this is the second beer I’ve had in the last week that has been shared by a fellow ratebeerian which I have recently traded for myself - what am I supposed to do with MY bottles, guys!? - anyway, let that stand as a sign of just how great it is to be a NY ratebeerian - anyway, this poured a very turbid reddish orange, with a thick, lasting head - aroma of dough, fig, apple, pear, earthiness, light background funk, and nicely mellowed hops - the flavor is very british in character, with some dough, a lot of fruitiness, mild acidity, and loads of earthy qualities - a lot of cherry and fig - oats - alcohol is warming, but not potent or overpowering - a little on the sweet side, but very tasty.

Acquired via a sweet-ass trade with treyrab. Pours inky black light sucking darkness with dark brown head and glass staining legs. This is one of the most impressive look beers for the style I have ever seen. The aroma is roasty to burnt malts plus a sense of biscuit malts, coffee and chocolate. Smells frikin’ divine. The taste is velvety chocolate to go along with coffee, burnt malts and mild molasses. Midway and to the finish I get tasty molasses, toffee, some coffee and a bit of burnt malts. I get very little sense of the over 10% ABV. Wow! This is YUM!

How could anybody who likes impy stouts pass up a beer called toaster? Look, I don’t like imperial stouts and by no means am I an expert on them. However, if impy stouts were gladiators, this stuff is Spartacus. I hate impy stouts so ignore my numbers. I rate on how much I enjoyed it, not by the style and by style, this is the epitome. Is it possible the rater who hates impy stouts the most is the most qualified to rate the positive attributes of said stouts? No? Well I guess yer right. If I rated this the worst impy stout, would that make it the best? Probably not. Anyhow, I tried this brew from a flip top bottle that was opened by the brewer himself, dude. Had this at Bocktown; a fine experience in itself. In the drinken container, it was thick and black as used 70W used shovelhead oil that had 5K miles on it. Unforgettable vision. The aroma was sweet, mildly chard and volatile, cannot be ignored. It is actually appetizing to the olfactory! It is staining the side of the glass, I tried to wipe it but it left a track. Barely any detectable carbonation in this offensive high alky concoction. Thick and alky deliciously strong without the naughtiness. The most complex impy stout I ever tasted, forget an expedition, this is a journey! Mouth coating experience, as if I could feel the skin in my mouth being stained! Terribus maximus. One of a kind incident. Unique in the beer arena. Long lasting rude unforgettable linger. If you like imp stout, better arrange a trade now. S7L5F1T3O9

1 liter bottle courtesy of sebletitje. Awesome, thanks Sebastian. Pours gold with straw hues and spotty white head. The aroma is fruity up front with apricot, peach and apple to go along with yeasty spice notes. The taste is much the same largely being fruity in nature from a smooth mix of peach, plum, apricot and apples. Behind the fruitiness is a thin layer of yeast spiciness.

courtesy of sirpsycho. Pours hazy golden with white head. Aroma is very yeasty with light malts and light fruits. Taste is hoppy, yeasty, fruity- citrus , with honey like mouthfeel and excellent spices in the aftertaste. Really has all the components to make this one a great tripel.

Sampled at the Map Room this beer poured a dark red-brown color with a trace tan head. The aroma was lightly bitter, woody and smokey. The flavor was bitter, nutty, lightly woody and had sharp fruity hops. The finish was long, bitter and nutty. Decent.

Sampled on draft at the Map Room this beer poured a hazy yellow-golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma was strong banana and light citrus with a bready undertone. The flavor was tart yet sweet and lightly bitter with strong banana, moderate citrus and a touch of clove. The finish was long with banana and clove. The mouthfeel was fairly thick. Very well done.

EE#18 S7L5F2T6O15 Cherry Stout Dispensed from the top of a keg freshly tapped at the brewery. Has a slight cherry perfume olfactory about it, yummy. Big thick commanding creamy head with dark speckles in it, deliciously appetizing. On the palate I sense barely any carbonation in it. Cherry hides some of the fabulous stout flavors but they do peek thru here and there. Cherry flavor also makes it seem like a higher alky content than stated. Another refreshing beer from Scott’s East End.
