Bottle sampled at RBSG;Nose of caramel, yeast, and light cloves and corriander; Murky yellow with a nice white head; flavor was spicy with light hop bitterness and a slight sweetness.

Sampled from a 1 liter brown bottle this beer poured a murky ochre-amber color with an enormous white head. The aroma was sweet, fruity, sugary and yeasty with a decent undertone of grapefruit and pineapple. The flavor was tangy, butter and lightly fruity with notes of piney and fruity hops. A bit rough in the middle before finishing with a sugary sweet finish. This beer has a lot of nice elements but something did not quite click for me. Only a disappointment because I had been really looking forward to it.

Had this on cask at Piper’s Pub, nice place. Nice looking dark brown unhazy beer. Has a nifty woody or leather aroma unlike any other brew I’ve rated, quite attractive. Has Thin creamy head. Normally, I don’t care for cask beers, but I think I found a cask beer I can really enjoy. Drew, the owner, said that many places don’t age cask beers properly and by the taste of this, I must agree. It even has a small anmount of welcomed carbonation that I never felt in a cask beer! This beer is friendly and interesting. Very good flavors with no betterness at all. Lovely session brew. Great job Scott @ East End, you are the king of session brews as far as I’m concerned. My only regret about this beer is that I missed having it on regular tap over at the brewery, I bet it was delicious under normal tap carbonation and I bet it would have added at least a full point to my score. Finishes like a gentleman. Best cask beer I’ve ever tasted.

Poured from an East End growler that was filled yesterday. The bottle had a layer of gunk on the bottom of the bottle. Very attractive bouquet. Color of a very good hazy wheat beer, perhaps light beige for lack of a better description. Even tho this stuff is hazy, it has continuous streams of carbonation readily visible. No head. Taste is mild and pleasing, however, it lacks the amount of sourness I was somehow expecting. But I must say, there is an interesting mild tartness about it. I also detect a tad of saltiness, as if it had a tad of seawater in it! No bitterness what so ever can be detected in this gentleman of a brew. Fun and friendly, goes down way too easy. Good tingly carbonation but not at all over the top in fizziness. Finish? What finish? Oh, blast the growler is empty! I really like lower alky session brews and Scott at East End is the king of session brews, good job, once again, my friend! Simply lovely!

Firkin version at Barley’s 6th Annual Mini RAF (04/26/08): This brew is a hazy orange-yellow color with a medium thin light beige head that diminishes steadily. Thin rings of lacing on the glass. Grapefruit and hops in the nose. Medium-bodied with a strong astringent hops flavor that overpowers any trace of malt. Some wheat and yeast is present as well. The finish retains the harsh bitterness and leaves a metallic hops aftertaste. Not sure what was going on with this beer but something was definitely not right.

750 ml bottle, 2006 Vintage, Courtesy of Winter 07 Secret Santa. Bottle #830 of 1300. Enjoyed with after4ever and hogfodder on 3/20/08. Pour is hazy orange amber with a billowy off white head. Aroma is caramel toffee sticky sweetness. Great nose. Sweet fruitiness. Taste is mostly about the biscuit caramel sweetness. Really round fully developed and nice layers of taste. Great balance, really a treat. Super nice. Thanks for this one Dan, you were a great Santa.

Oh yes, oh yes, this stuff is cool right from the start! Mildly fruity fragrance, that comes across mouth watering. Attractive dark brown with an alabaster head. Very good tingly carbonation without being excessive. Taste is rather unique and enjoyable, a very nice beer that is fun and friendly. I really enjoyed this brew, even more than the monkey boy. This beer is a good example of a true Belgian dubbel, unlike so many other american Belgie dubbels, this stuff is really refined and does justice for the style. Way too often I am insulted by american brews that are classified on this site as a dubbel but then I find out they are just high alky brews that are terribly medicinal bitter and let their alky show thru. Nice one Scott! This really hides it’s alky content well! Would never know this is above 5%! East End is a pro when it comes to making brews that can be easily classified as session. Borders on Corsendonk Pater and Bornum Dubbel!

Has a friendly aroma. Cloudy brown. Big head that does not fade. Not too much carbonation. Tho I think I detect some hops to an extent, this is very enjoyable on the tongue. Finish is mild and accepatable. A very friendly beer that is easy to get along with. Way above average for the style. Nice session brew.

From a growler, thanks Scott! In the beginning as you pour it from the east end jug, it seems to be a perfect example of this style. Lacks any of the notorious american wheat attributes. Very nice candy aroma. Clean and fresh on the olfactory. Perfectly cloudy vanilla yella with a creamy looking thin head. Palate is chewy and certainly not watered down. Friendly and fun. Appealing in the most wheaty-est of ways. IMHO probably could use a little more tingly carbonation, but it is not lacking in that department. Good example of a hefe that is not overly spice, simple and beautiful. Finish is banana, bubblegum and vanilla all the way. No hint of bitterness what so ever! Another winner from the East End of Pittsburgh.

Sampled on draft at the Maproom in Pittsburgh this beer poured a dark amber color with a large yellow-white head. The aroma was light, tart fruity hops. The flavor was very bitter, tangy and tart with crisp fruity hops. Very one dimensional as the thin malt base really accentuated the hops. The finish was long tart and fruity. Quite interesting. I do not believe that I have ever encountered a small beer before.
