Cask (handpump) @ Robin Hood, DY8, Amblecote. Clear medium yellow orange color with a small creamy, fair lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel, butter. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily to creamy, carbonation is flat.

Cask gravity at Planet Thanet BF 2007. Ruby colour with bubbly beige head. Odd smokey aroma. Some yeast. Has some very light caramel malt. It is extremely mild, but not poor because of that. Good example of the style. Malts are decent.

Bottle, picked up at Tuckers Maltings, Newton Abbott 14-11-06. Poured a reddy/brown colour and was indeed very strong tasting, think I might upset the applecart a bit with my rating because although I didn’t not like it I found it a bit messy, alcohol too present and just a bit rough. It wasn’t sweet and it did have some positives but all in all not really my thing.

[Cask at GBBF 2005] A brown beer with no head. The aroma is sweet - but it also has the sulphury edge, that some Milds have - and that I don’t like. The flavor is a sulphury Mild flavor combined with a slightly roasted dry bitter end. Mild is not a favorite style of mine, but some I like - this is not one of them.

[Cask at GBBF 2003] An orange beer with no head. The aroma is very slight but has notes of hops, malt, and fruit. The flavor is nice; a malt sweet fruitiness with a good fruity hoppiness rolling along the side of the tongue and lingering. It is a little cask flat, but it has a good palate. A good beer.

Colour: hazy-red as fox, but darker; white-cream head, bit irregular. Nose: English hops, chalk, blueberries, also smell of biscuits. Iron oxide smell in head!! Taste: immediately biscuit/malts, then huge, but fine, dose of hops. Mouthfeel: rather thinnish at first, seems to fill in afterwards. Aftertaste: hops linger on; start of slight burning sensation as from ginger cake or preserved ginger. This beer stands out; English strong ales have a nasty tendency towards cloying sweetness. Nothing of this here: hops to the fore. Whatever the thinnish-chalk impression induces, stays unclear to me.
