On tap at Cherry Reds, Birmingham. Cloudy gold with small white head. Orange, flora, pine, light grainy, moderate bitter finish with some spice. Slick body but a low carbonation doesn't suit the style. A little basic but pleasant all the same.

Cask at Cherry Reds, Birmingham. Clear gold with small white top. This one was zesty with softer fruitiness underneath. Somewhat tangy with malts coming through, good bitterness in finish. Its decent.

Half at the Wellington, Birmingham. Clear pale gold with small white head. Quite floral, light fruity, with a biscuit and cracker malt profile. Light bitterness and slightly earthy dry finish. A bit going on here but didn't really take to it.

Bottle from the brewer's own stall at the Birmingham NEC Good Food Show. Yay, a rare Worcestershire rate. Boo it's not that great. It's mahogany-coloured with a beige head and a light fizz. It feels a bit thin and watery. There's chocolate up front and a hint of sourness in the mildly roasty aftertaste. But that's about it. I had been planning to buy a few bottles from here to boost my Worcestershire rates, but as a result of this below-par brew and the unfriendliness of the lady serving it I decided to take my money elsewhere.

Handpull cask at the Salmon, Leicester. Mid- to dark orange/gold with a small uneven white head. Caramel, orange peel, grassy notes in the aroma. Sweet taste followed by gentle bitterness. Moderate amounts of orange, toffee, a little touch of kumquat 8n the aftertaste. Very nice indeed. Medium body, soft carbonation.

Gravity cask at Clacton-on-Sea CAMRA Beer Festival 2024. Pours light hazed gold with beige foam. Aroma: sweet malts, floral, fragrant, citrus. Taste: near moderate sweet & bitter, floral hop semi-dry finish. Tidy flavours for the ABV, just shows that sub 4% golden beers aren't all as dull as ditchwater.

Cask at Raven, Crewe. Pours a slightly hazy golden amber with a small off-white head and good lacing. Not much of an aroma – just hints of malts and caramel. In the mouth it is basically sweet, but with some strange gooseberry undertones. After a while a more conventional fruitiness comes through with herbal hints. Finish is somewhat earthy. A bit strange – but it WAS near the bottom of the barrel. Rerate required ?
