West Hewish, Weston-super-Mare, UK - BS24 6RR, England
Description
Brewing started behind the Royal Clarence Hotel, and in those days trading as the Royal Clarence Hotel Brewery, in Burnhan-on-Sea in August 1982. A 5 barrel brew plant was used primarily to supply the hotel only. The brewery was taken over in May 1984 and the beers became more available in the free trade. Due to problems with the water supply, the brewery was using that much that hotel guests could not wash, the brewery moved in January 1993 to an old cider mill in West Hewish, Weston-super-Mare. Capacity was tripled during the move and in 2000 work started on upgrading the plant to a 30 barrel brew length. The brewery closed in early 2017 but relaunched shortly afterwards as Pitchfolk Brewery.

Cask-conditioned at the Bag O’Nails, Bristol 9/8/07. A decent enough session beer. Aroma of dusty hops followed by a hint of biscuity malt and a bitter finish. Fine.

Cask-conditioned at the Bag O’Nails, Bristol 9/8/07. Chris O’s comments are spot on. A reasonable if undistinguished bitter with a decent balance of hops and malt but nothing to stand out. Ok.

500 ml bottle. Almost black body with a beige head. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee and chocolate with a little hint of liquorices, very nice. Flavor is surprisingly mild, roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. Really nice sample of a well composed beer at only 4,5% ABV.

Cask gravity at Kent BF. Pale chestnut, really nice colour with thin white head. It’s fine. It does what it says, a drinkable session bitter. Decent hop. 3/5 Re rate cask handpull at The Rake Really hoppy ofr a 3.6% beer. Tastes like a proper bitter. Bit of hop, biscuit malt. Great condition.

Cask gravity at Kent BF 07. Copper, lasting bubbly beige head. Actually a great session bitter, good malt/hop combo, hop on end was very good. Balanced and drinkable. I liked it.

Bottle. Amber-red with a slight white head. Aroma of sweet malt, red fruit and marzipan. Flavour was predominantly of redcurrants with a hoppy finish to provide balance. Excellent.

Dark amber color with good off-white head. Strong honeyish hoppy aroma. Malty but quite pale malty and hoppy, but not aggressive for IPA. Licorice notes. Light as you can expect from 3.6 % beer but ok for sessions.

500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. Bottle conditioned. ABV is 6.0%. Brewed by RCH Brewery, bottled by Integrated Bottling Solutions. Amber coloured beer, huge and lasting off-white head. Pleasant hoppy and fruity aroma, also hints of toffee and oak. The flavour is fruity and malty, with a noticeable alcohol presence. Dry hops in the finish. A powerful extra strong bitter, but no session beer - one bottle is enough.
