0,33 l swing top bottle from Rewe, Bad Pyrmont. Now labeled as 1863 Hell and without the Bio sticker. Clear dark golden in the glass with a fine foamy more than one finger white head. Looks really good. Low grainy aroma with caramel, little bit metallic. Taste is more on the caramel side, smooth grainy, some sweetness in the background. Low bitterness as expected. Mid carbonation. Okay.

Bottle. Somewhat cloudy dark gold/copper/orange with a righteous white head. Aroma of malts, grains and some spicy hops. Taste of malts, honey, grains and minerals. Moderate bitterness. Medium to strong carbonation. It’s alright and at least better than expected.

25/3/2023. Bottle courtesy of Boris, cheers. Shared at SBGP1. Pours bright copper brown with a small frothy off-white head. Aroma of toffee, biscuit, vanilla, tobacco, syrup, slight stewed and veggie edge. Quite sweet with light to moderate bitterness. Medium body, a little watery , average to soft carbonation. Finishes watery. Not bad but a bit underwhelming for the style.

0.33 l bottle from 'Vollkornbäckerei Niemand', best before July 2023. Clear, amber with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, white head. Sweetish, slightly malty, gently floral and minimally fruity aroma of honey, some caramel and hints of pear. Gently sweet, malty, moderately bitter, slightly floral and a little fruity taste of honey, caramel, grains, sultanas and some pear, followed by a short, moderately bitter finish. Medium to full body, smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Solid example of an otherwise fairly bland style. One of the cleanest beers I've had from Detmold so far.

Sweet-ish and minimally alcoholic, yeasty fruity and fruity hoppy aroma, wheat and caramel malty background, notes of orchard fruit, preserved fruit, a touch of dried fruit, fig, date, apricot, hints of sultana, mandarine overtones, a touch of fruit sirup and orange liqueur, some honey. Taste is sweet-ish, wheat and caramel malty, minimally oaty, yeasty fruity and slightly fruity hoppy, notes of orchard fruit, preserved fruit, some dried fruit, a touch of honey, fruit sirup and liqueur, fig, date, apricot, peach, some mandarine and orange; some leafy hop bitterness in the last third, light peppery, yeasty spciness and some fruit acidic tartness as well, minimally warming, alcoholic finish. Dissolved sugar enriched, watery texture with a thin, acidic strand, minimally cloying palate, medium, soft carbonation. Very fruity, exhibits rather unusual fruit flavours for a Weizenbock (no banana), balanced, especially well controlled sweetness, slender, delicate, dainty - nice dessert.

330ml bottle. Cloudy, redd-ish, brown colour with small, frothy to creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Caramel malty aroma, notes of caramel, dark caramel, a touch of nougat, rum, calvados, whiffs of dried fruit, dried apple, later, while warming up, some cherry as well. Taste is rather dry, slightly papery, minimally alcoholic, hints of treacle, some caramel, dried apple, dried fruit; minimally sugary, caramel finish with a minimally warming, alcoholic touch. Alcohol thinned, minimally creamy, ergo all in all watery texture, minimally dry palate, fine, mildly prickly carbonation. Well hidden alcohol overall, not overly complex - a tad too simple to act as the sipper to finish your day with.
