Description
Brasserie Lepers is the result of more than 100 years of experience shared over 6 generations. The tradition has been perpetuated by, on the one hand, the Maille family - Brasserie Maille (since 1905) which then became the Brasserie d'Annœullin, and on the other, by the Lepers - Brasserie Lepers Frères family (from 1880 to 1960 ). These are the ancestors of Charles Lepers, current director of the Lepers Brewery now at La Chapelle d´Armentières, where the copper boilers have been moved from the old family estate of Annoeullin to preserve the art of brewing in the old style.

Note: Previously Brasserie Lepers. In 2012 moved from Annoeullin to 199bis Rue Marle La Chapelle-d'Armentières. Acquired by 3F in 2020, moved to the former Gayant premises in Douai, some production done by 3F in Belgium.

Clear blond. Aroma is a bit sweet and floral. Flavour is sweet but served very cold it remains quite fresh and easy to drink.

Sampled draft @ La Capsule as « L’Angelus le Temps d’un Printemps ». Hazy orange with a white head. Nose is truly exceptional, sweet pineapple mixed with apple pie, fresh cake, pear, cinnamon etc. Taste however sadly is much weaker and not as nuanced but still nice, light lemon meringue, pineapple, sugary, sweet spices, light honey, a bit weak tasting. Light body, touch lower carbonation. Nice beer, if only it tasted more like it smelled.

750ml corked and caged green bottle. Hazy yellow-tan body. Lots of rising carbonation bubbles meet a soapy white head. A touch of sour wheat and smooth, subdued French malt. I love the doughy, sublime mouthfeel of an authentic Biere de Garde. Lemony wheat and noble hops up front give it just a faint twang, otherwise it is just straightforward malt smoothness. Almost has some cider tendencies. Very enjoyable beverage.

750ml shared with Jeevan, from Beers of Europe. Pours clear amber, thin white head. Sweet sugar honey aromas, hint of cinnamon, taste is the same, but a bit bland. Not bad, but nothing special.

Slightly hazy yellow colour, white head. Aroma of yeast, hops, funk and citrus. Fresh sour aroma, lemon, citric acid. Funky finish, hops and citrus. Nice beer! Wondering if the funk was intended, but it works quite well regardless.

Bottle shared with Dutchdrebus, Joes, Martinus and Countbeer. Hazy yellow color, medium sized white head. Smell and taste malts, pretty sourish, a bit salty (or is it the cheese?), citrussy. Slightly dry finish, average body and carbonation. Meh.
