Description
It was 1857 when Hugo Bayerlein founded the Bayreuther Bierbrauerei. In 1872 Hugo Bayerlein sold the brewery to a group of investors. These changed the brewery's name to a public limited company and sold the shares to Bayreuth families. In 1965, the Maisel brewery, with its Gebr. Maisel brewery, acquired a large package of shares and thus provided a positive impetus for the further development of our Bayreuth brewery. In this way, the Bayreuth brewery was able to maintain its independence, develop positively and enter into a well-functioning cooperation with the neighboring family brewery. With a large portion of foresight, the managers of our Bayreuth beer brewery and the Gebr. Maisel brewery decided in the 1960s to use our capacities together. So the new location was selected jointly and the joint production facility was founded.

Bottled. Clear pale golden, mid-sized head. Light vegetable aroma. Sweet and fruity with dense mouthfeel and solid body. The low hop rate gives all the attention to the malt, but fruit and grain is all it can offer. Finished with low bitterness and some slight disappointment.

Bottle. Barnyard hay aroma. Hazy brown- amber color with moderate head. Sweet hay malt flavor with light barnyard finish. A pretty nice bottled version - the sweetest Zwickel I’ve ever had.

Bottle, 5.3%. Weak citric aroma. The flavour is flowery and citric with a good yeast note. Also a certain yeast feel in the mouthfeel. Flavourful yet drinkable.
