Description
Rocky Head Brewery is a micro (5BBL) brewery set up by a group of friends inspired by the American Craft Brewing scene. The brewery is probably the most ramshackle in the UK, equipment sourced and modified from here, there and everywhere.. It seems to work though! We craft artisanal batches of intensely flavoured pale ale by hand, loaded with American and NZ hops.

33cl bottle @PBF XI. Poured golden color with a thin white head. Aroma has lemon and dill notes. Flavor has dill, grass, hops, floral notes. Sorachi not that evident but enough to make it drinkable. :)

Bottle at home, 17/06/16. Hazed orange with a decent off white head that dissipates to a covering in time. Nose is orange, straw, light mango notes, light bread, toasted grain. Taste comprises bitter orange, light yeast esters, peppery spice, dusty tropicana and light hop interlude. Medium bodied, prickly carbonation - perhaps a touch overcooked, light hop and mineral chase in the close. Ok for style.

Keg at the Eebria Taproom - Bermondsey. Pours deep black-brown with a thick, creamy tan head. Strong roasted malt aroma with hints of...brett I would say, and also some cocoa. Medium sweet flavour with more hearty roast, baking cocoa, just a slash of brett with inklings of funk and poo. Some bitter scorched earth. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Finishes with a little bitter ash, more baking cocoa, earth, lasting roast, some leathery berries, a little bretty funk. Novel stuff. Nicely layered.

Keg at Eebria taproom. It pours black with a medium tan head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, floral, dark fruits, sherbet, parma violets and orange marmalade. The taste is bitter - sweet, umami, charred wood, coffee grounds, orange sherbet, fruit compote, jammy berry, Dandelion & Burdock, liquorice and earth. Medium body and moderate, prickly carbonation. Interesting and rather drinkable stuff. Good Juan.

Bottle at home in London - picked up at the London Brewers Market, April 2016. Pours lightly hazy gold with a slim, frothy white head. The aroma holds lots of citrus pith, minerals, lemon peel. Light sweet flavour with dominant flinty minerality that neuters pretty much all other characteristics. There’s a little bit of nondeScript citrus rind bitterness, hints of pale grains. Light bodied with soft to fine carbonation. Dry and flinty to finish, with some further pith and rind, hints of chlorine, dried biscuits, faint ash. A bit rough.

Draft at the London Brewers Market April 2016. Pours hazy gold with a creamy, white head. Mellow wheat in the nose, some crunchy grains, light yeast and grass. Light sweet flavour with strong grassy bitterness, husky grains, dried wheat. Light bodied with average carbonation. Finishes with more grassy bitterness, bitter grain husks, light earth, dry wheat flakes. So so overall.
