Old rating from 2007. 4.3% ABV bottle version. Black with a big creamy beige head. Soft aromas of coffee, toasted malt and chocolate. A hint of sweetness on the palate but very well-balanced. Body is a tad thin and not very complex, but still solid for the style. Smooth and clean dry finish.

Draught at The Irish Corner, Madrid. Pours salmon pink to ruby red, thick and consistent, long-lasting white head. Aroma is mostly coffee and walnut, almost as if it were a stout and not an Irish red. Taste starts a little sweet, then develops a nice fresh mouthfeel and finishes with quite a strong lingering bitterness. Better than I remembered, it’s actually pretty good.
