On tap at Crewe Dog, Crewe. Pours a murky lemon yellow with a medium sized foamy white head and good lacing. Biscuits and lemon come together in the aroma. A bitter sharpness is the immediate sensation in the mouth, with lemon and grapefruit overwhelming the taste buds. Once the tongue is used to this, the biscuit base can be detected, and some tangering somes into play. Finish is more bitter lemon. A decent enough beer, but not my kind at all – pass !

Keg @ Tap and Can. Hazed with peachy golden colour, good white head. Lovely fresh tropical aroma, continuing to taste with great balance and drinkability and excellent hop definition. Rounded with a nice bitterness. Really hard to believe this is just 3.8%. Such a good session IPA. Rated high for the style.

Cask at Smithfield, Derby. Pours almost black with minimal head. There’s roasted malts, nuts and chocolate in the aroma here. Has a smooth creamy texture in the mouth. Bags of flavour too, peanuts, darks fruits, roast malts and liquorice plus the inevitable alcoholic strength. A bit of a mish mash, but very nice.

On Tap at Crewe Dog, Crewe. Pours a murky dark reddish drown with minimal head. Chilli and chocolate together in the aroma. Sweet and watery in the mouth, where flavour is totally dominated by the chilli. On searching berry fruits and chocolate can be detected – and roast malts inferred from the texture. Not a bad beer, but the excessive chilli makes it rather one dimensional.
