Cask at Ebenezers, Crewe. Pours a murky dull orange with a small white head and good lacing. Not much of a nose – just some vague citrus. Much more citrus in the mouth, along with oranges, mango and grapefruit. Finish is mainly grapefruit with some other citrus hints. An unusual style of beer to find in cask format – but I still don’t like it !

Cask at Crewe Dog, Crewe. Pours almost black with a small beige head. There’s cocoa and fudge in the aroma. In the mouth it is sweet with an oily texture, and some sour undertones. Main flavours are biscuits and ginger with alcoholic strength being plainly evident. Later there are some roast malts and hints of toffee leading to a boozy finish. Nice enough, but a bit of a gimicky concoction.

Self-pour service, about 100ml, tap at Tap House Notts. Dotted spots on the glass, remaining white head over an unclear golden body. Moderate aromas of citrus and apricot. Juicy flavours, grapefruit and apricot. Drying hop fruity close, mid-sweet. Fine depth. Likeable. Heavy, but nice in smaller amounts. (Nottingham 11.10.2022).

440ml can. Crisp, hoppy, grassy and piney with some resin, hints of herbal notes, citrus and grapefruit. Some bitterness and dry earthy notes in the finish, slightly watery and hints of cardboard. Pretty great AF IPA.

Cask at Smithfield, Derby – though have drunk it before. Pours almost black with minimal cream head Roast malts and some coffee in the aroma. In the mouth the texture is slightly watery, but with also a stickiness that coats the tongue. Flavour is mainly liquorice and sweet milky coffee, plus traces of treach and ash. Finish is a little dry. This is a pretty decent stout all round, the coffee isn’t overwhelming and it hides its strength well.

On tap at Crewe Dog, Crewe. Pours a hazy pale straw with a small white head. Hints of tropical fruits in the aroma. In the mouth it is crisp and juicy, starting off slightly sweet before tropical fruits and lemongrass come through, plus a little general citrus. Bit of a nothing beer really – though it’s hard to actively dislike it.

Cask at Crewe Dog, Crewe. Pours a golden yellow with medium sized white head and good lacing. Not much of an aroma, just some general citrus. A bit more bite in the mouth though, where sweet malts are offset by floral hops, plus a dollop of the inevitable citrus. OK, but lacking much character.

Keg draught at the Queens Road Tap, Leicester. Light yellow and hazy with a thin white head. It's hard to place the nose... some vanilla, a bit of soap, light coconut and tropical fruit. Bittersweet taste with a decent bitterness lingering at the end. Light body, heavy carbonation. Really dull sadly.
