Panda 🐼 at home thanks to Wingman. A light hazed dark cola brown coloured pour with a fading fine dark tan head. Aroma is big earthy hazelnut, twig, toasted nuts, powdered chocolate. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, light tang, mineral, woody bark, toasted nuts, twiggy, rustic brown bread. Palate is a little thin, semi sweet, grainy, moderate carbonation. Decent nice hazelnut character.

Cask (gravity ?) at Flowerpot Derby (Potfest). Pours almost black with minimal head. Malts to the fore in the aroma with hints of alcoholic strength. In the mouth the overwhelming sensation is of how extremely watery it is. Underneath it all is a sweetness and later molasses and toffee with hints of aniseed and liquorice start to come through. Finish is boozy. I really wanted to like this because it’s one of my favourite beer styles, but it was just too weird for me. Suggest the brewers take a trip to Sarah Hughes to see how it should be done !
