Bottle. I prefer the old version... the double IPA. Pours brown with a small head. Malt and hops in the aroma... flavor is the same with some licorice and roastiness involved.

New rating 6/9/17... it’s been nearly 12 years since I last rated this, and my old rating was ridiculously high. Let’s see if it maintains. Pours a pretty orange with a soft off-white head. Aroma is juicy citrus hops, light floral notes. Flavor is citrus hops, floral notes including rose hips, sweet caramel, tropical fruit. Yep, I still love this stuff, but am dinging it a little in the rating as I may have been overzealous. ___________ Old rating from 11/1/05: Appearance 4, aroma 10, taste 9, palate 5, overall 19 BOTTLE. Very pretty orangey-amber in color with a nice off-white head. Looks clean and crisp. I hate to reuse a word the brewer used, but the aroma is INTENSE. Lovely flowers, some fruitiness (citrus, mango, and passionfruit almost). Oh my god, it smells so good that I don’t even need to taste it (who am I kidding?). Holy cow, that flavor is amazing as well... it sure doesn’t get much better than this in an IPA for me (I only wish I had a sample of my favorite IPA by Southern Tier to compare this beast to). Anyway, a sip... lotsa flavors worked in there. Heavy sweetish hoppiness- starts with an island fruit flavor, followed by bitterness of grapefruits, followed by a nice pine... aftertaste intertwines the grapefruit and pine. This is near perfect, in my opinion.

A dry Imperial eh? Pours nearly black with a wispy beige head and very little lacing. Aroma of roasted coffee and nuts, as well as a bit of chocolate. Medium-bodied with more of a Porter character than an Imperial Stout. Hops, raisins and malt flavors, with a bitter coffee aftertaste. Dry finish that is reminiscent of espresso. A decent beer but falls short in the category.

Copper colour. Woody, slighlty piney hops meet toasty, breadcrusty malts in the nose. Light bitterness with a juicy malt character. Leans towards woodiness.

Yellowish with a small head. Very clear. Not much of an aroma... kinda sweet grassiness. Flavor is OK, but not my favorite. Kinda crisp finish.

$1.49 FOR A 12-OZ SINGLE (BOTTLE). Pours golden with a small white head. Not much of an aroma at all. Flavor is light and uncomplex. Finishes bitter. Bland as hell, but drinkable.

A hazy red-brown beer with a brown head. The aroma is sweet malty and very caramelic. The flavor is sweet and again dominated by caramel. I have a hard time convincing myself, that this is an Imperial Stout, too light and not roasted enough to fit the category in my book.

Sparkling gold color that hold up a nice white head. Dusty spice aroma. Lightly sweet citrus flavor with a tangy finish. Dry spiciness overall.

An aroma that is more sweet than fruity. Copper colored. Flavor is of very light fruit and sugar, and this leads to a light palate as well. A very light and easy going fruit beer with little to offer.

Dark as night, small head. Heavy licorice and roasted almosndlike smell. Bitter flavor... lotsa dark chocolate with a tangy finish. Tasty.
