I rated this a 3.6 in June 2000, original rating text below. I've had it a fair bit over the years and never thought about re-rating it. But now that it's in brown bottles, and I just bought a fresh sixer of it, I was struck by just how great this beer really is, and so I thought I'd look up my old rating, and for sure that 3.6 is too low. I'm fairly sure that was the phase many beer geeks go through of really only giving high rates to the high grav ales. Anyway, this is just damn near perfect. Big grassy somewhat catty hop aromatics, a good solid whack of bracing bitterness at the finish, all balanced by clean light bready maltiness. It's so good. original: Ideal version of the style. Clean and crisp, with enough body to really taste it. The pils hoppiness is very apparent. The golden color is pleasing to the eye and beats the crap out of looking at most other pilsners out there.
