On tap at Birdsal House. Pours hazy orangey brown. Nose of tropical fruits and funk. Tastes of sour peaches, pineapple, and berries. Hint of black tea. Yeast and oak. I loved it. It’s crisp and just funky enough. More Brett as it warms

2012 vintage. 750 ml bottle from the Brewery on 4/21/12. ABV this batch is 5.9 % aged in oak barrels. Pale, hazy amber color. No head or lace at all. Low carbonation. Nose is oak with a lightly funky note under the wood. Oak is the dominate flavor in this brew with mild Brett and a hint of a fruit note trying real hard to get through. Flavor reminds me of a bretty, apple brandy. (if that makes sense) I like it, but it is mostly oak, not much funk at all. Slightly more Brett at room temp. Dry hopped versions are going to be different. If you see this at better beer establishments, I would say order one. You could be in for a different take on a brett / oak brew.

Draft. Cloudy orange color, small white edge head. Aroma of slightly sour orange peel and lemon. Taste is softly sour oranges. Decent.

Draft at Beer Run. Pours hazy golden with a thin head that quickly fades. Aroma of very tart and somewhat sour notes, pale caramel malts and herbal hops. Very sour taste, lemon, tropical, herbal hops. Medium bodied. Nice.

A deep dark brown ale with a thin lacing dark mocha head. In aroma, a nice earthy coffee and ground material, hint of soil, very nice. In mouth, a nice and smooth bitter chocolate with earthy coffee grinds, light vanilla, rich and smooth. On tap at Bierkraft, Dec. 29 2011.

On cask at Nerax North Pours a solid dark brown color with a decent off white head with moderate linger. Smells of caramel, chocolate, roast, earth, funk, and some other stuff that seems odd and indescribable to me. This tastes like a mild porter with a caramel chocolate and light roast that should be there There’s also a weird earthy herbal funk in there that at first seems odd, but eventually grows on you, well like a mushroom. Lingering dry earthy and hoppy finish lasts long into every sip. Medium body and carbonation level with a tart earthy mouthfeel. Infinitely different, a little weird, but damn this just works. I went back for seconds and I can’t stand mushrooms, it’s just really good stuff.

On tap at DeCicios tasting pours jet black with rich boozy aroma. Tastes of lots of dark chocolate, some vanilla, smokey, apple brandy sweetness, and some coffee. Warming finish, this is a monster beer for one in the afternoon

Tap at Pony Bar. Mine wasn’t that funky. Poured hazy, orange-gold with a moderate, bubbly white head. Aroma seemed more like a pale ale, with some sweet malts and light fruits, and maybe faint hints of Belgian yeast. Good flavor, with medium sweetness, earthiness, and some pleasant bitterness on the finish. Light to medium in body with lively carbonation. A tasty beer, just didn’t have the funkiness as described.(3,4)

Tap at Pony Bar. Dark brown pour with a huge, dense beige head. Mostly sweet, dark and roasted malt aroma, though there are definitely some apple notes. Also chocolate. Flavor is sweet, the brandy is present, as are pleasant candied dark fruits. The faintest hints of coffee and smoke, particularly in the finish. Medium to big in body with average carbonation, and mild burn. Overall very good.

Sampled at Max’s American Beer Fest. Pours a translucent yellow/brown with a wispy head. Aroma is very pleasant, lemons, hay, spices. Flavor is sugary, slightly sweaty funk, flowers. Chalky on the tongue. Well balanced in terms of nose and flavor although not incredibly bretty.
