Very dark brown, some light through, thin tan head, some lacing
Aroma of roasted malt, bit woody smoke
Taste of roasted malts, bitter roast, some woody smoke, dark malts
Palate - Medium body, fairly smooth, some oiliness. Finish of roasted malts, soft smoke, some sweet dark malts, bitter hops and bitter roast, hint of chocolate, slightly dry
Overall - Not that keen on the smokiness and a bit bitter for me for a stout

Keg. Mellow and bitter, but, as it's keg, too fizzy.

Cask @ Bacchus, Newcastle [280213]
Golden amber, clear, thin dense white head
Aroma of soft grassy hops, grassy zest
Taste of soft grassy hops, mellow citrus zesty hops, pale malt background, dab of caramel, more grassy bitter hops coming through, not liking this as much as normal Emanation
Palate - medium body, fairly bitter palate, finish as main flavour, rather dry, finish a touch astringent
Overall - I prefer the normal Emanation over this

Half pint, cask by hand-pump at Pivni. Ruby dark coloured body. Spotty lacing. Dark malty nose with a peaty touch. Smell of earth, bread and mild roasted meat. Bitter liquorice to the finish. Medium to thin bodied. Ok (York, 26.01.2013).

Cask at Craft Beer Rising. It pours deep red with a medium off-white head. The nose is jam, blackcurrant, tanginess, apple, red grape and some farmyard. The taste is fruity, tangy berry, blackcurrant jam, apple, crisp sourness and red grape with a dry, lightly tart finish. Smooth, well balanced and just massively drinkable. Nice work!

Cask (handpump) @ GBBF 2012, Great British Beer Festival, London Olympia, Hammersmith Road, London, England W14 8UX.Clear dark black colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt, dusty coffee. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, dusty coffee, dark roasted. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20120807]

Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, dark chocolate. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light to moderate bitter with a long duration, dark malt, roasted, hoppy - spicy, ash notes.
