Bottle shared at Maltzilla’s All American Weekend. Pours cloudy brown color with tan head. Tons of aromas; toasted malts, bourbon, vanilla, cinnamon, wood, wine. Similar falvors with some sourness. Weird, but interesting.

On tap at Bottleworks, pours clear copper with a beige head. Aroma of deeply roasted nuts (almonds?), roasted malt and toast. The flavour is considerably sweeter than the aroma let's on, as well as some sourness, with elements of citrus, sweet & sour dried fruits, and a little nutty character. Quite nice.

2009. Pours orange-tinged apple juice into a snifter. Bright white head quickly recedes to hug rim. Sour apple aromas. Crisp with sour apple and grape upfront turning to a tart lactic finish. Nice.

Tasty beer. This beer really needs to warm up bring out sufficient sour punch, but, once it hits a good temperature, it can legitimately compete with the big boys from Belgium. The aroma has lots of sour cherry pie and wood. The woody aroma is particularly interesting. It has a sort of cork/walnut character to it. There’s some interesting spice in there, as well. Light lemons and yogurt foreshadow the pucker. Taste is a bit simpler than the aroma. Good but not incredible pucker. More lemons. Earthy yeast undertones. Drying finish. Not too much vinegar. Very nice lingering aftertaste of cherry skins, lemon zest and unsweetened yogurt. Mouthfeel started off rather effervescent, but I took my time with the beer and it mellowed nicely. Appearance is a deep maroon, increasingly cloudy as you go through the bottle. Cascade is one of the best American brewers of sours, and this kriek is an excellent example of their prowess.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy, amber-red with a moderate, off-white head. Strong fruit aroma with prominent berry notes. Flavor is sweet, tart, fruity, with defnite notes of cherries and almonds. Also lightly woody. Medium in body with fine carbonation. Finishes tart, sweet, a bit acidic and dry. Very good stuff. (3.9)

Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Super sour and acidic to finish, pleasant cherry notes. Plenty of lip-quiver on the back of this one. Good, if pretty intense. (3.8)

Bottle thanks to Ben shared with others! Poured a cloudy orange gold with a white head that lasted throughout the beer. Aroma had a nice sour fruit note with a balancing sweet apricot note that worked together nicely. Flavor had a really nice combination of apricot, beginning sweet and becoming sour.
