Curtis poured me a sample from their keg room while I visited the brew pub. Pours a deep, dark, translucent red with a frothy, white head. Big nose, cherries, tart, dark fruits, plums, red grapes, mild oak. Flavor is great, the flanders beer is always the core, tart, malty, fruity, but the pinot barrel shines through, light toasted oak, a little coconut, red grapes, figs, light raisin. Medium bodied and drinkable. Another really nice beer from them.

Curtis, the brewer, was kind enough to allow me to sampled this on tap from the keg room at the brewery. This beer is completely legit. Pours an opaque, deep brown with a very frothy off white head. The nose is really good, sour mash, lactic acid, big vanilla, whiskey, brown sugar, licorice, chocolate, dried fruits. Flavor was just as good, starts with a lactic tartness which is rounded out by a mellow sweetness, oak, vanilla beans, light Belgian chocolate, some light spice. Full bodied, roasty, tart finish. So happy I had a chance to try this, it’s very exceptional.

Sampled on tap at the brewpub. Pours a totally clear, transparent copper amber with some very thin white head. Aroma of spices, dried fruits, yeast, a touch tart, vinegar, dark fruit. Flavor is tart, cherries, the malt comes through too, some light spice, dried fruit. Medium bodied, tart finish.

Sampled on tap at the brewpub. Pours a very hazy, yellowish orange with a very frothy, white head. Nose is really nice, stone fruits, apricot obviously, lightly tart, some light malt, a touch of fresh, clean oak. Flavor is sweet, lightly malty, stone fruits, juicy, tart, the oak is mellow, tart, a little lactic acid. Medium bodied, tart finish. No hint of the 8.5% abv. Super drinkable.

Hazy mahogany with a medium beige head. Balsamic nose with sour berries and roasted malt. Flavor was sour with sour berries, roasted malt and balsamic notes. Finished sour. Thanks Theis.

Murky red brown, some bubbles but no real head. Acetic nose, some barrel funk, hints of cherries. Flavor was dominated by lactic acid, very hard sour, more barrel funk, hints of cherries. A bit cheesy, like a blue cheese. Moderate sweetness. I thought they did a good job with it, but the acidity was just a little too much for me.

750 ml 2009 bottle at Pizzeria Paradiso, shared with RJ. Clear golden color, medium white head, scant lacing. Aroma of dust! and dried fruits. Taste of apricots is subtle, decent malt, lemon peel, nice acidity and sourness. Good character. Very tasty.

On tap. Pours with a a large white head over a somewhat chill hazy golden body. Aroma of champagne, grapes, herbs, salt, coriander, perfume, lavender, and suntan lotion. Flavors of wheat, salt, lactic acid, coriander and sage. Dry and refreshing mouthfeel. Solid.

bottle at the Tally tasting. Pours dark purple with a thin off white head. Aroma is strong berry and wild yeast. Flavor is dark berry, mildly sour until the finish which lingers with sweet blackberry jam and tart berry.
