Description
Pucker Up & Join the Sour Revolution

Cascade Brewing has been a pioneer in the sour beer renaissance since 2006 and is the proud innovator of the Northwest Sour Ale. We are, by nature, the definition of artisanal brewing: we’re not bound by stylistic guidelines, just our own imagination and the ingredients we can access. Our distinctive sour beer blends feature fruit forward, barrel-aged ales that offer a complex array of flavors derived from Northwest grown ingredients, with each release capturing the unique subtleties of that year’s growing season. Our beers are brewed at our original brewery in Southwest Portland, then blended and aged at our nearby Blending House, which holds more than 1,300 oaks barrels and nine foudre tanks.

750 ml corked and caged bottle, shared by theisti. Labeled as Cascade Sang Rouge. Color is dark red and has a small head. Aroma is fresh cherries and hits your nose with some subdued barrel and light acetic qualities, which mix well with the cherry aspect. So, nice reproduction of cherries. Flavor is some light puckering sourness with sweet cherry pit and a tingling mouthfeel. Easy drinking and despite not having fruit, the fruity aspect is awesome.

Shared at the 2010 RBSG Grand Tasting. Poured dark blueberry purple with a brown head. Aroma had a bit of sweet grain but lots of dark berries, particularly blackberry. Flavor began with sweet grains but both sweet and tart black berries quickly took over.
