750 ml corked and caged bottle, courtesy of bvc. Labeled as Cascade Sang Rouge. Pour is slight haze ruby brown with a one inch off white head that falls fast. Aroma is bright cherry fruitiness, along with some nice acetic lactic sourness. The sour and funk are very soft and gentle, and integrate nicely with the cherry fruit. As it opens, quite a bit of grainy wood comes out. Clean and enjoyable nose. Taste is earthy sour cherry, along with the graininess of the oak and wood barrel. There is some residual lactic vinegar sourness in the dry finish. This is really about the fruit, and the cherry is clean, natural and fresh tasting. Palate is medium to thin bodied, active carbonation, dry and crisp sour finish. Really easy drinking beer. Nice one, thanks Brandon.

RBWG 2010. Pours cloudy orangish color with white head. Aroma of sour fruits. Flavors of sour grapes with some sweetness and oak. Light to medium body with average carbonation.

Draught. Poured dark brown red with thin head. Thin head. Light lacing. Sweet malty aroma. Sweet malty flavour with a bit of nuttiness. Quick finish.

Bottle listed as Sang Rouge. Pours with a deep, ruby red-amber body and a supremely long lasting head. Gorgeous! Aroma is floral and tart with cherries, peppery notes, leather, chocolate, currant, cleaning products and vinegar. Taste is sour, acidic, vinegar, chocolate, dark fruits, minerals, acidic. Great Flemish Red, but this is no La Folie (even in the 22s) or Oude Tart. Medium bubbles, dry and acidic.

2009 Vintage. Gusher. Pours with a highly effervescent body that is slightly hazed and bronze in color. Large, slightly off-white head. Aroma is very bright and sour. Noes is apricot and slightly spicy notes. A bit of marmalade. Taste is sour, and fruity with a tannic/bitter finish (tannic skins). Lots of acidic fruit. Creamy effervescence. Interesting.

Boulder Sourfest ’10 - I had a lot of beers after this one at this fest, but here is where I pretty much stopped paying attention, not because I wasn’t enjoying the beer or the fest, but precisely BECAUSE I was enjoying the beers and the fest - anyway, I quite enjoyed this one - the strength was in no way noticeable - quite a strong herbal character up front, followed by toasted oak of the bourbon barrel - cherry comes through in the middle - very mellow sourness and acidity, with just the faintest touch of funkiness on the back end - a nice brew.

75 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden deep red with a pink head. Butterish to slight farty aroma. Sweet and citric. Dry and light malty base flavoured. Dominantly fruity and dry citric into the finish.

64 fl oz growler. Pours hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma is dry and citric fruity with a mild wheaty note. Fruity and light barnyard dryness. Bitter and citric into a dry lasting finish. Bitter and dry lasting impression. Smooth raspberry like note.

Draft. Rich mahogony/brown beer with a low off-white head. Cherry and light barrel aroma. Cherry, light malt, and light barrel notes with light tartness. Medium bodied. Cherry, malt, and light tartness lingers. Great balance.
