Bottle. (thx beer_2000) It poured deep golden, a bit chillhazed as I poured it straight from the fridge, and with a medium-sized beige head. The hazyness almost disappeares as the beer warms up. The nose has the typical dried fruit-like Leffe character which I am quite fond of, espscially if I want something that’s not demanding to drink. Dried fruits is quite evident, along with a little spicyness and hints of alcohol. Some sugary sweetness as well. The flavor starts quite brutally with alcohol leading the way, but is soon folllowed by both dried and fresh fruits, a little spicyness and hops, and a good dash of sugar towards the end. The sweetness goes hand in hand with the alcohol, which is warming your mouth and throat quite well. Letting it warm up a bit, also mellows the beer, leaving it not so alcohol dominated. It gets stickier on the palate though. Leffe 9° is not a beer I would refuse to drink later on, but I would prefer the Brune, or even better, the Radieuse. By the way, finishing the last little mouthfull, a short grainy note appeared, guess that needed a higher temperature to show up. (070906)

Dark amber, almost brown in colour. Aroma is a little sweet and malty. Flavour is a good balance of sweetness, fruit and malt. The alcohol does dry out the top of the mouth somewhat but the texture is smooth and easy to drink overall.

0.33L bottle. faint aromas of malt, small head, clear brown colour with red taints. Extremly bitter at first, but as the beer warms up, sweet flavours of caramel and stewed fruits appear. The finish is sour, short and not too appealing.

0,33 l bottle. Dark brown colored with big ocher head. Aroma of sweet malt with caramel. Flavor really sweet, maybe bit too much for my taste, some caramel mixed with yeast. Not much carbonation, creamy texture and, unfortunately, sweet but short finish. Very good beer but there are many better.

draft - Pours brown with a substantial head and a yeasty, malty aroma. The flavor is sweet and malty with yeast and a little fruit in the background. Medium bodied and lively, it’s not complicated, but it’s a good quaff.

Cloudy gold with thick white head. Aroma/taste is dried fruits, spices, yeast, malts & alcohol. Good lace & medium bodied. Smooth & soft. Very warm alcohol feel with a long end!

(Bottle 33 cl) Courtesy of Grovlam. Clear, amber golden with an off-white head. Very fruity and intense aroma with some yeast. Very full-bodied with lots of caramel, fruit and yeast. Lots of warming alcohol in the finish. Archetypically Belgian. 270707

Clean brick-red color with a large tan head. Spices, malts, dark fruit, and sorta roasted aroma. Medium, creamy body. Flavor is slightly roasted malts, spicey, dark fruits, and some molasses. Solid, but not outstanding.
