Description
The Knoblach inn has been in Schammelsdorf since 1880 and it has been brewing there for about this long. Today Michael Knoblach is the resident master brewer. The Knoblachs are deeply rooted in their homeland and maintain good contact with regional suppliers and farmers. They attach great importance to preserving and actively promoting the diversity of the Bamberg region. For this purpose, the raw materials are, as far as possible, bought exclusively from the region. This not only has the advantage of boosting the domestic economy, but is also reflected in the quality. The ingredients couldn't be fresher.

Gravity @ Knoblach, Schammelsdorf. Pours cloudy golden with a white head. Grass, grains and bread. Rustic. Bitter finish. Slight metalllic note which spoils the fun a bit. Tap June -15. Re-rate. No metal but very clean and bright. 3,5-4,0

Gravity keg at Ma che siete venuti a fa in Rome-Italy, with mortlach and luttonm. Many thanks to Manuele for having plugged this gem upon our short stay in Rome, grazie. Pours a hazy amber color, slightly perceivable from the top of the mug glass. Tick off-white foamy head. Nose: Impressive chicory-grassy bitterness, basically given by the yeast/hops use, grainy character all the way. Mouth: soft carbonation, bready body, chicory accent. Extreme lager I have to admit, which exceeds expectations.

On tap at Knoblach. Served in a krug. It’s really tasty. Malty hoppy bitter noble hop finish. Not sure. It has hops and character but there is an uneasy relationship and it’s a tad watery. Good. I mean really good but not top notch.

Bottle from the brewery. Glowing dark orange with a low head. A bit darker than the lagerbier. Clear. Caramel and peach in the nose, a touch of smoke. Flavor is caramel, rye bread, peaches. Smooth and light yet full bodied. Very bitter and herbal like the lager, though not as much so.
