Bottle thanks to Mike. Pours a cloudy yellow with thick frothy white head thst lasts leaving sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is strong funk, oak, yeast, spice, brandy. Thick mouthfeel with heavy brandy, light yeast profile but not much of the base comes thru. Odd pairing of brandy and this style.

Bottle thanks to Eric. Pours a cloudy brown with small beige head. The aroma is strong lacto, oak, salt. Nice sour lacto, oak, funk. Easy to drink, very nice.

Tap. Pours hazy butterscotch, small white head, great lacing. Aroma is pine and spruce. Flavor is very light sweet, dry actually, pine, spruce, not much else. Light body. Objective: showcase centennial; accomplished. However the times have passed this hop by.

On tap at the brewery. Aroma is very hop forward, one of the more hop forward Simple beers. Light cracker malt in the background. Hop is a bit grassy with grapefruit, citrus and pine resin. Pours a fairly clear, gold color with a medium sized white head that exhibits really good retention. Moderately high lacing with small legs. Flavor is nice with a medium light cracker and biscuit malt character. Medium bitterness with moderately strong hop flavors. Quite a bit of grapefruit and pine resin, but also a spicy herbal grass note. Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a very grassy centennial, but more hop forward then some of the other Simple beers.

Bottle at the brewery. Aroma has a light roast character with medium high tart berry and cassis notes. Light chocolate and honey notes with very faint vanilla notes. Some red wine notes and light oak tannins. More honey and vanilla as it warms. Pours black with a small, tan head with really good retention. Moderately high lacing with medium length legs. Flavor is somewhat tart with some nice berry and cherry notes. Medium light honey notes with light vanilla. Medium light chocolate with medium toast notes. Low bitterness. Moderate red wine character with some light oak and medium light tannins. Low alcohol spice in the finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a pretty nice dark, tart beer with quite a bit of red wine and tart fruit notes. Light, dark malt charactet that works well with the red wine.

Bottle thanks to Bruce! It pours near black with a thick tan head. The nose is roasted malt, toast, creaminess, milky, mild acidity, cocoa and some jammy fruits. The taste is crisp, tart, toasty, roasted malt, cocoa, earth, some acidity, sherbet and granny smith apple with a tart, somewhat acidic finish. Medium+ body and moderate carbonation. I am not sold on the sour stout style, but this is pretty tasty anyhow.

Pours black with a small, thick, dark mocha head that recedes fairly quickly to the edges. Medium light lacing and medium legs. Flavor is fairly roasty with a nice chocolate note as well. Some tobacco and leather with a bit of some dried fruit esters. Moderate bitterness with some earthy hop notes and a bit of alcohol spice. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium carbonation. Medium low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, an alright beer but one of my least favorite beers from SARA. A bit astringent and the malt character isn’t quite right for me; I think it finished too dry to balance all the malt character.
