Description
We focus our attention on brewing rustic, unfiltered, aromatic beers that are approachable and unique. We pull from our home brewing background to build beers that pay homage to tradition, but break new ground in American brewing techniques and flavors by blurring the line between beer and wine. We are brewers of big ideas in very small batches.

Aroma is rather fruity with lots of ripe berry notes, more raspberry than blueberry. Some light oak and tannic, vinous aromas as well. Faint darker malt character and some moderate red wine notes. Pours a very murky brown with purple and red hues on the edges. Thick purplish red head that recedes quickly to the edges. Quite a bit of yeast and particulate matter; this is definitely a goopy beer. Flavor has some sweet berry jam notes upfront with some lighter dark malt character. Mid palate you get some vinous notes and a moderate amount of red wine. In the finish is a bit of tart berry character, light bitterness and a touch of astringency. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium carbonation. It finishes fairly dry for it's body and isn't sticky at all. Low, but present astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall an ugly beer but a pretty tasty one, especially if you like tart berries which I love. I really like the aroma and the flavor upfront, but the finishing note is a bit harsh as it lingers. There was almost an inch of sediment in this bottle. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma is mostly tart and vinous with some red and white wine notes. It is also quite fruity with tart cherry and plums. Some faint chocolate and roast notes, but this leans more towards fruit and wine in the aroma. Pours a dark brown with lighter highlights on the edges. Thin tab head recedes fairly quickly but leaves behind moderate lacing. Medium sized legs. Flavor is rather tart with lots of cherry and plum. There is also a bit of a wine character, fruity like a Pinot Noir. Not much roast at all and only a light chocolate note in the finish. There are hints of tobacco and leather in the finish as well. A really nice dark sour beer with tons of fruit. Light bitterness and fairly dry in the finish. Sourness is refreshing without being mouth puckering. No horse blanket style funk, just tart cherry funk. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and moderate alcohol warmth. Overall a very enjoyable beer though most of the dark malt character has receded to the finish which I actually find more enjoyable. I could certainly drink a bottle of this to myself. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap. Pours opaque black with a small fizzy head and little lacing. Aroma is strongly coffe, plus some roasted malt notes. Flavor is the same, lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Even though the coffee is very forward in this beer it works well. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel. Nice.

Tap. Pours hazy butterscotch with a small white head and some lacing. Aroma is very fruity - mango, citrus, canaloupe. Flavor has little sweetness, medium bitterness with a zesty component as well - lemon peel? Medium body, low carbonation overall. Nice beer, but the aroma is the high point.

On tap at the brewery. Aroma is all Nelson Sauvin hops, which I love. Some cracker in the background to help balance the hops. The hops are vinous with melon, tropical fruit and a hint of grape. Pours a cloudy pale yellow gold with a thin white head that recedes to the edges. Moderate lacing and small legs. Flavor is light cracker and then all Nelson hops. Melon, white grapes and tropical fruit with an assertive but clean bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency with low alcohol warmth. Overall I really like this beer. It shows simplicity is best. The hop has a lot of character and this really lets the hop shine with a nice base malt character. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
