Pours dark, caramelly brown with a slight cold (?) haze. Small white head, médium stability. Smell is old chocolate, tad caramel, mild bitter touch. Taste is sharp , with a very high carbonation, and thin mouthfeel. Mild oxidation, which I will not take into count for the rating, since the beer isn't as fresh as desired. Medium levels of DMS, over a very weak beer. Underneath the strong carbonation, not much other tastes come trough. Not a fan here...

9 September 2018. Tap at Brouwbar, Ghent. Shared with Anke.
Pours hazy amber, brownish, with a lasting, frothy, tan head; little lacing. Aroma of pomegrenate, blood orange, raisin, almond, walnut, dough, red paprika or even peppers, faint caramel. It tastes light malty sweet, balancing raisin, plum & nuts, and medium hoppy bitter, hints of blood orange & pink grapefruit; sweetish accents of bread & onion in the back. Dry, herbal & piney hoppy finish, lingering (red) fruit. Medium body, creamy texture, fizzy carbonation. Quite impressive from this small brewery, looking forward to more...

Lightly cold hazed darker golden beer, under a good, dense, whipped eggwhite-like head; lightly pearling carbonation, end of bottle serious slops. EU hops in the nose, weed-like, green vegetables, green leaves. More of the same in the mouth, if milder. OTOH, bit burning MF. Again garden weeds, herbs, neutral hops. Feels much better carbonated than it looks. Pretty neutral finish and aftertaste; not very well-bodied. Sorry guys, this is not a NEIPA, but a GWBIPA. (Gent Would Be IPA, as more in the town wanting to be more than it is)

The "wild" version of Humboldt & Gauss' Armada, from a 75 cl bottle at Gents Bierfestival, thanks to the Belgian RateBeer crew for sharing. Loose and open, off-white head, hazy orangey amber robe. Aroma of fermenting plums and grapes, lots of 'Bretty' sweat and wet leather, candied orange, old sherry, caramel, dry white wine. Estery fruitiness of blue plums and white grapes, gooseberry compote, soft carb, soft and fluffy mouthfeel; caramelly malt body underneath a growing Brett effect, including very phenolic and stale urine-like notes, before ending with an earthy, hop bitter tail. The Brettanomyces made a totally different beer out of the original Armada; the response at the tasting table was generally on the negative side and I agree with the criticism that the 'wild' yeast effect here comes across as cultivated and clean, something Brettanomyces should be the opposite of, but I like all things Brett so for me personally this wasn't so much of a problem. Would happily revisit.

Thanks to sharing RB crew. Sampled bottled @ Gents Bierfestival 2018. Amber orange, little head. Nose is massive brett, very thinned grainy, medicinal brett,… Packaged brett, overly carbonated, leaves, medicinal, grain, dull fizzy empty grainy, brett took over everything in a non-optimal way, way too much carbonation, package medicinal brett,…

Copper colour with light haze. Aroma and flavour have plenty of Brett. Nice yeasy bitterness. Nice and very different to the regular version.
