Description
Peter Crawford is one of the leading, if not THE leading, expert in Champagne in the UK. Returning to his family farm in Scotland, Peter can't make Champagne, but can grow apples and make cider, which is what he has done. All his ciders are very vinous - think of them more as apple wines than a bottle of Scrumpy!

Bottle from Aeble. It pours clear very pale yellow with a quickly dissipating white head. The aroma is fresh, fragrant, bright, zingy, crunchy apple, apple skin, funk, white wine, touch of white grape and gooseberry. The taste is crisp, dry, tart, puckering, nip of acidity, dry white wine character, white grape, gooseberry, soor plooms, lemon - lime, sour melon, sherbet, nip of booze, light tannin and damp funky oak with a drying finish. Average body and just a faint hint of prickly carbonation. Works well. A cider for those that like dry white wine. Fun.

Bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - cloudy orange with frantic bubbles. Nose - sweet red apple, red apple skin, stewed fruit. Taste - red apple again, bruised and stewed too. But with a dry apple skin edge to it. Palate - medium bodied, rich bittersweet middle and finish. High carbonation. Overall - good stuff.
