At ’bierweekend de lambiekstoempers ’ . Pours fuzzy yellow / orange. Smell is a bit hoppy, to the sweet side. Tastes a bit unfermented though, you clearly taste some Wort-like sweetness. mildly bitter, some hoparoma. Doesn’t feel like its supposed to taste like this...

Ambitious (and quite expensive) first beer from this new micro brewery in Waterloo, dry-hopped, oak-aged and refermented with champagne yeast. Creamy, dense, stable, yellowish white head, cloudy peach blonde colour. Aroma has a certain complexity, with hints of pineapple, biscuit, medium dry sherry, cava, pickled gherkins, citrus peel, flowers, faint woody notes and, alas, some H2S (sewer water). Refined sweetness in the onset, some candied and dried fruits with a sourish edge, smooth and somewhat vinous mouthfeel, juicy and soft caramelly malt sweetness, bit honeyish, yeasty finish with lingering sourishness, champagne yeast manifesting itself but in a more sherry-like flavour than actual sparkling wine, a tad woody with aromatic, but not deeply bittering hoppiness. A bit weird, a bit infected and a bit too expensive for what it is, but it seems to have potential enough to keep me interested in other things this brewery may come up with in the future.

29/VIII/15 - 33cl bottle @ Lambiekstoempers bierfestival - BB: n/a (2015-1133)

Pretty cloudy orange beer, creamy irregular off-white head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: very smelly, spicy, dusty, bit chemical, paint, rotten fruits and vegetables. Highly unpleasant. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: very spicy, lots of coriander, dusty, chemical touch, band-aid. Aftertaste: bitter, spicy, chemical, weird, unpleasant. Wow, this is a failure. I can't cope with this.
