Metal bottle left here by Scott and consumed at home Attenkirchen, Tuesday 3rd September 2019. Pours warm gold with a white head. This is a boozy, however despite my scepticism it's ok, its a little mainstream but it's fine.

The wheat beer in this series, an organic one like the others in the series, with champagne yeast and orange peel; hints at American style wheat ale due to the more forwarded hop presence, I guess this justifies the 'wheat ale' rather than 'witbier' classification here. Metallic (!) bottle from a health food store in Ghent. Egg-white, bubbly, loosely knit head quickly reduced to a thin ring, over a hazy golden-yellow beer with pale apricot hue. Aroma of banana, candied lemon, limoncello without the alcohol, candy apple, honey, sweetbread, touch dried orange peel, cooked sweet potatoes, damp straw. Sweet onset, very strong banana ester, cooked pear and ripe pineapple notes, light sourish tone and initially souring carbonation but calming down significantly in a brief amount of time; slick wheaty-bready body, bit soapy, leading to a mildly earthy finish with lingering honey- and candied lemon-like sweetness; dried orange peel adds bitterness, more so than the hops, which remain gently floral and a bit grassy - yet indeed a bit more pronounced than would be the case in a traditional Belgian witbier. Special and modern interpretation of a witbier, venturing in the Anglo-Saxon wheat ale realm indeed, but remaining too sweet and bubblegummy to fully belong to the latter category; elegant still, certainly not the worst Belgian wheat beer I had and so, like the 6, still quite a nice surprise from this brewery for me. As with the 6, though, I seem to be the only here appreciating this beer - I must have had a really good day...

The IPA in this Lion series, metal bottle (something you don't see every day!) from a health food store in Ghent. Thick and regularly shaped, eggshell-white, very mousy head on a lightly hazy, warm orange blonde beer with amberish tinge and lively sparkling. Aroma of pink grapefruit, dried bitter orange peel, melon, sweet onions frying in olive oil, dry biscuit, paprika powder, sundried tomato, pine resin, dust. Cleanly fruity onset, apricot and persimmon hints but not sweet, early stings of hop bitterness noticeable; sharp, stinging and very minerally carbonation at first, but the mouthfeel remains altogether smooth, even if a little bit metallic (I guess related to the packing...). Pleasantly biscuit- and cracker-like malt body, bit oily with a powerful wave of grapefruity, very peppery (almost 'hot') hop bitterness, resinous, piney and uncompromising, unhindered by any lingering yeast and malt effects - contrary to the majority of other IPA attempts made in Belgium. Apparently classified as an English IPA here but this is a full-fledged West Coast IPA in my book - completely fitting the profile of the now 'old school' version of modern IPA the way I got to know and appreciate it years ago. I seem to be the only one here but I think this is well done, did not expect that from this brewery, to be frank.

Bottle from Carrefour Calais and drunk at home. Haze pale gold colour lasting white head. Looks a bit over carbonated. Some lemon and orange on the aroma. Some Belgian esters, light peach aroma and flavour. More of the same in the mouth. Very citrus led witbier. Yes nice enough. Simple citrus led witbier. Very refreshing and good first beer of the evening.
