Half-pint, cask at Piccadilly Tap. Shared with Finn. Fine spotty lacing from a remaining small head, next-to clear golden body. Moderate smell of bread-like malts added by a citric touch. Mid-sweet malt-fruity flavours, moments of toffee and leafy hops. Finish with a resinous twist. Quite alright. (Manchester 11.10.2022).

On tap at That Beer Place (Foregate St), Chester. Pours a dark ruby with minimal cream head but good lacing. There’s wet earth and cut grass in the unusual aroma. Dark fruits (plums / raspberries) are to the fore initially in the mouth, along with nuts and malt. Texture is reminiscent of gravy. Hoppiness comes through later, leading to a boozy finish. This is rather nice and very drinkable – belies its strength.
