Draft at Maloneys, 1/28/24. Slightly hazy golden-orange color. Strong lace. Peach candy, pineapple, orange. Very sweet. Peach candy dominates. Tasty, but it's so so sweet. 8/4/8/4/16

07/14/19 On tap @ Bad Seed Brooklyn. Pink pint glass pour. This is apparently guava centric, which is cool, given that this is Crown Heights & totally by chance. Smells lightly floral, mildly meaty with malt, with a big guava trail. Taste is sour, twangy guava/lemon/dry malt/melon. Very easy, low ABV combo that sloshes right down. Slightly too sour to quaff, but good for two.

Very hazy golden and straw coloured body with a nice-ish two centimetre tall pure white head that fades pretty quickly and doesn't leave anything up top or on the sides. Aroma of honey, resin, grapefruit, pine and a lot of astringent, super pungent alcohol, metallic and deep bitterness - in the nose, at least. Medium-bodied; Very rich and super astringent alcohol and strong bitterness from the alcohol, metal and strong malt components, with some softer orange and grapefruit notes, but the astringency and pungent dry bitterness is strongest. Aftertaste shows almost no malt components with no real body detected, only a touch of flowers and dryness, but the pungency and strength of the alcohol is very noticeable throughout, not showing any signs of letting up, and is really the only strong flavours here at all. Overall, this was far from what I was expecting, and is very poor overall - there is haze and an unfiltered quality, but literally everything else is poor - no malt backbone, no fruits, no complexity, no sugars, just a thin, astringent and pungent alcohol bite that shows metallic, deep flavours and nothing nice. Not worth trying to find, even if you like their music...glad to have this after leaving New York today, but not worth bringing back down, even easily on the train like I did! I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Whole Foods in New York (NoMad, 28th Street), New York on 03-December-2022 for US$4,99, canned on 08-November-2022 with the tagline 'Cuatro' on the bottom and sampled at my house here in Washington after returning from New York again, on 16-January-2023.

On tap at Red Hook Tavern. Pours a clear light yellow gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has grains and straw with a bit of hay and just a hint of grass coming through. Flavor is a good amount of straw and slightly sweet grains with grass and hay underlying.

Bottle. Pours inky black with a small brown head and decent lacing. Aroma is earthy, mocha, leather, oak, bourbon. Flavor is medium sweet, medium bitter. Full body. Lingering bitterness.

Poured from 500mL bottle. Near black with small beige head. Coconut, vanilla, mild earthy chocolate, everything is a bit subdued. Still decent.

Dark brown. This has a fudgey thick sweetness, not complex, just sweet, with a light coconut note. It's okay, definitely I'm wishing for greater complexity and brighter coconut to hit the high notes.

Pours black with a tan head. Sugary dark malt aroma; a lot of burnt caramel. A lot of sweet, caramel malty flavour. A bit of booze. A bit unbalanced, but enjoyable.

500mL bottle, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma reveals medium roasted malt, some earthiness, a hint of vanilla, and some sludginess. Flavour is extremely rich, with sludgy cocoa, vanilla, some earthiness, and a touch of coconut. Very sludgy, earthy on the palate, finishing with coconut and vanilla. Rather rough and sludgy. This needs some work.
