Very dark but clear reddy-brown pint with a thick, beige frothy head. Smell is sweetly nutty but there’s something else there I can’t place (it’s almost like sweetcorn but I’m sure there’s something more usual I’m just not able to identify.) Taste is sweet malt and a hearty coffee aftertaste. There’s a slight watery-ness to it as well but it doesn’t ruin it. It’s still a nice, if lightweight, beer of this type.

Clear, dark gold beer with a thin head and a light, zesty hop smell. Flavour is hop, citrus with a sugary caramel hit on the tongue. It’s not spectacular but it’s crisp and tasty.

Bottle from Morrisons Newark. Dark brown black beer with thick lasting beige head. Choccy aroma which is mild. Mild chocolate in the mouth. Very much a modern dark mild cross modern porter. I would go with dark mild myself but that is just me. Some sting on the finish whoch may be due to the carbonation. It’s fine if unexciting. Nothing wrong with it some ok bready choc malt. Simple. Plain. Fine. Disappeared quickly enough.

50cl bottle from Morrisons. An attractive golden amber colour with a loose white head; fruity aroma with a touch of caramel; sweet fruity taste with a hint of spice; and a lightly hopped finish with caramel and some warmth. A pleasant amber ale.

330ml bottle from Morrisons, Teeside Park, Stockton. Dark brown black colour, foamy beige head leaving lacing and aroma of malt, roast, chocolate & coffee. Taste is roasted malty, with biscuit, chocolate, some smoke and fruity notes. Smoothish mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry tangy roast bitter finish. Quite drinkable.

33cl bottle from Morrisons, Bracknell. Deep mahogany with a cherry red glow and loose beige head; aroma of sour fruit and chocolate; sour fruity taste to start - cherries perhaps - then a seeter chocolate; before a dry finish. Seems slightly out of balance.
