Draft. Amber beer with an off-white head. Big grapefruit aroma. Grapefruit and pine flavor. Medium bodied. Very good bitterness. Grapefruit and pine lingers with light tropical fruit.

On tap at Fieldwork. It pours a bright, light golden color with a white head. The aroma is full with citrus fruit. Mostly grapefruit and tangerine with light florals, lime and pineapple. The flavor is the same. Lime comes through a bit stronger with more grapefruit and hints of melon, mango and florals. Very fruity and citrus forward, which is a welcome change from some other their more earthy, resinous IPAs. Low to medium bitterness with a snappy, dry citric lime zest finish. Wonderfully soft mouthfeel. Really good.

On tap at the brewery. It pours a light amber color with an off white head. The aroma is bready with a light malty fruit character. Not getting much in the way of hops. A little earthiness. The flavor has some dry bread crust, strong piney, earthy bitterness and touches of astringency on the palate. Weak body. Bland hop character, but otherwise clean.

On tap at the brewery. It pours a pale golden color with a white head. The aroma is strong with earthy green onion, garlic, grass and background notes of orange. The flavor is very dry, grassy, lightly spicy with and earthy garlic-like spicy bitterness. Dank earth and well farmed soil come to mind. Only mild hints of citrus fruit in the background. Kinda boring, but very clean.

On tap at Harry’s Hofbrau. Aroma has a murky, dirty chocolate dishwater aspect. Very odd. Moderate low smoke. Slightly hazy copper with full, dense head of small bubbles. Flavor is subdued in front palate, and the back half shows a powdered chocolate. Sweet lactose lingers late. Love this brewery...but this one lost the plot.

Old tasting notes from the summer. This was on tap at Gourmet Haus. Hazy with sustained white head. Grapefruit offers a very solid approach to this style, and gets it right where a lot of this style loses the plot and becomes puckering and undrinkable. Faint saltiness balances well with the citrus for a very pleasant and easy to drink beer. The ABV is completely hidden in this pleasurable beer.

From notes in the Spring. Another solid offering from Fieldwork. They really nail every beer. Golden orange with full, fluffy head. Giant taste of melon with slight citrus. Get a little Maris Otter here, which provides nice support.

On tap at Harry’s Hofbrua. Pours a very hazy yellow with full white head. Showcase of tropical fruit and juice. The alcohol is hidden very well in this. Holds up nicely without too much residual sweetness from the malt. Tasty.

On tap at City Pub in Redwood City. Slightly hazy orange with off white head. Aroma is heavy towards the pine, with slight fruit. Flavor has lemon, mango and orange. The hops lean towards bittering, however, which is a little unlike their other offerings. Detracts from some of the subtle qualities.

On tap at Harry’s Hofbrau in Redwood City. Jet black with a full brown head that lingers and is creamy. Aroma of chocolate and coffee. Flavor is predominant chocolate with slickness from the oatmeal. Slight vanilla accents well. Moderate roast and minimal bitterness.
