Bottle at St George’s Cemetary RB Gathering. Completely black beer with dark beige head. Smokey, tarry, dark burnt aorma. NIce stout, very dark roast finish. Charcoal. Nice. Thanks for this Haddonsman Cask at GBBF 2006. Black with no head. Choc is stunning. Velvet, intense dark cherry. Stunning, stunning beer. The level of chocisity (is that a word?) is amazing. Up there with DFH and the Plevna Imp Stout as beers of the festival.

[Cask at Volunteers Arms, GBBF 2005] An orange beer with a lazing white head. The aroma is very hoppy, but also with notes of butter. The flavor is sweet hoppy and flowery, but again with light notes of butter, leading to a dry bitter end.

Cask@Burton Winter Beer Festival 2006. Dark brown and reddish beer with a brown head. The flavour is very intensely dry, expresso coffee and slightly creamy, and the aroma is fairly dry and roasted. Overall the beer is too strongly dry.

Bottle. Brown beer with a greyish head. The aroma is bitter, slightly smoked and slightly medicinal, and the flavour is lightly roasted and dry with a herbal finish. Overall quite weak and disappointing.

500ml bottle. Black beer with thick frothy dark beige head. Plenty of dark roasted malts, even a bit of toffee. Dark choc/coffee. Quite smooth in mouth, bit of sour liquorice, but a well balanced beer and the best of the bottled Alcazar beers I’ve had. Dark roasted raisins too on the flavour
