Description
At the gateway to the Sequoia National Forest, Kern River Brewery is Kernville's only brewpub. This makes KRBC much more than just a restaurant; it's an attraction in itself.
The Kern River Brewing Company is a privately owned “S” Corporation and is managed by a three-member board of directors. The business of the company is the production of fresh high-quality beer and food in a fun, comfortable environment. Kyle Smith, Eric Giddens and Rebecca Giddens make up the perfect combination to do just that.

Bottle. Pours with a hazed golden hue with a huge, barely off-white head. Aromas of vegetables, toasted grain, caramel, bread, allspice, licorice. Missing a few spices. Perfumey and lightly belgiany. Taste is malt forward, caramel, toasted grain, corn like (pilsner?), light starchy quality with some spice (allspice). Wish there was a bit more spice complexity/spices and a bit more sweetness. Grain dominant in the flavor. Feels a little watery. Well carbonated though. Hard beer to brew, and it is not my favorite of the style.

Fresh bottle. Really wish they would date these. Mostly clear golden pour with a disappointingly quick to fade (read next to non existent) white head. Aroma of grass, biscuit, fennel, corn, sage, burnt rubber, sharpie, rubber cement, and herbs. Flavors of candi sugar, grass, medicine, chemicals, and vanilla. Estery. Very scant bubbles, not flat, but somewhat close. Not enjoyable, but subpar for this brewery. Still drinkable. Sorry Kyle, but this is my least favorite beer from you guys.

Draft at Brewpub. As they walked up with the glass the tartness jumped out at me. The nose was tartness, woody wine, spicy notes, fruity sweetness, and some light funkiness. Hazy yellow with a small pale yellow head. Flavor was tart, corriander, oak, caramelly sweetness, and some chardonnay notes. Quite excellent! loved the stuff. I will have to get back this weekend for more!

Bottle. Pours clear gold with a strong, white head. Grapefruit aroma with hints of caramel malts. Sweet beginning with lightly sweet, earthy malts followed by pine and resin hops. Malt profile also smacks of caramel and biscuit. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Finishes fairly sweet with dry, earthy bitterness. Very good beer with superb balance.

Absolutely fantastic beer. I had a few glasses of this beer and was just blown away. I really didn’t expect it to live up to the hype, but I was happily wrong on that score. It has easily the best Citra flavor in the 10 or so Citra IPAs I’ve tried so far. It was all very bright floral and tangerine notes. The beer is quite well made. Just enough light malt sweetness to carry the hops. Finishes mildly dry and refreshing. Little to no harshly bitter notes. This is a very easy beer to like and makes me want to make the long drive down to Kernville.

Growler thanks to billshmeinke. Pours with a huge white head that slowly starts to recede over a hazy golden body. The head leaves behind excellent lacing, as does each sip. Nose is huge, citrus, tropical fruits, mango, papaya, lychee. Taste is papaya, mango, strawberry, tones of fruit with a bit of caramel on the finish. Well attenuated, medium carbonation. A great DIPA!!!
