Keg @ Pilcrow, Manchester. Black with a very thin head. There’s a mild peanut evident in both aroma and taste, with light roasted malts in its background.

On keg at Brewdog Edinburgh. Appearance - opaque black with a lovely fawn head Nose - molasses, brown sugar and a touch of chocolate. Taste - burnt liquorice and molasses. Brandy balls. Palate - rich and full bodied. A bit gnarly in the middle section but the grapple is rewarding. Overall - challenging but good stuff.

On keg at Brewdog Edinburgh. Appearance - opaque black with an olive sheen. Thin attractive fawn head. Nose - peat fire thing going on. The slightest hint of chocolate and toffee. Taste - smoke again, very strong. Dry burnt finish. Any other stout characteristics are competely smothered by the smoke though. Palate - close to medium bodied with smoke throughout and this makes the finish particularly dry. Overall - ok.

Keg at Brewdog Edinburgh. Pours opaque dark brown with a thin beige head. Strong smoke aromas, ash, peat fire. Taste is smoky, burnt rubber (but in a good way). Light chocolate beneath all the smoke. Intense.
