Can from The Beerhive. Hazy golden body with a medium white head. Low carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of cigarette butt, green pepper and earth. Flavour of onion, underripe pear and a metallic, bitter finish. Medium body with an oily texture. Soft fizz. I was really looking forward to this super-fresh IPA (canned just nine days ago) but the aroma is weird and it’s tastes bitter and mostly savoury. I normally love Almasty beers but I couldn’t finish this.

Handpull cask at the Mill, Cambridge. Light yellow, hazy, with a filmy white head. These are two hops that don’t always work for me, however the aroma suggests any fears are unfounded. Banana, pineapple, grapefruit, ammonia, meat. Taste is as aggressively pleasant as the aroma: a mostly-bitter bittersweet with an almost savoury edge. Finish is bittersweet with banana creme, a touch of papaya and lemon meringue in the aftertaste. Impressive.

Can. Hazy gold beer, good pale cream colour head. Smooth palate, mildly dry. Decent carbonation. Light malts, sweetish. Bitterish mid. Decent pine and orange. Little orange peel. Light finish. Tidy but never comes close to taking off and I would be hard pushed to identify this as the mighty Mosaic hop.
