Description
Ārpus Brewing Co. is an independent microbrewery, founded in 2017 by craft beer geeks from Latvia. We brew what we love - juicy hop forward ales, fruity sour beers and bold imperial stouts - and we’re proud that Ārpus Brewing Co. is voted as #1 brewery in the Baltic States on Untappd.

We chose Latvian word Ārpus for the name of our brewery, as its meaning reflects the types of beers we brew - outside the box, beyond the mass made lagers, beers with overwhelming flavours and aromas for people brave enough to step out of their comfort zone.

The brewery is located just outside Riga (Latvia), equipped with a 10hL brewhouse and 20hL fermentation vessels. Our beer is packaged in 440mL cans and KeyKegs, then stored in a cold room to keep it fresh longer.

Tap at Ø. Murky shiny orange body, no head. Mango absolutely dominates the aroma, trace apple at best. Smooth mango- and banana-driven taste, apple along the edges. Cinnamon? Not much of it. Good stuff overall, one of their tastiest smoothies.

Tap at Ø. Pitch black body fleeting tan head. Oily, sweet aroma, roasted hazelnuts... Did I mention it was sweet? Smooth sweet chocolate and light hazelnut, some dates, alcohol burn, more sweetness. Tooo sugary. Still very tasty in a way.

On tap at Habitat. Lightly boozy, quite sweet. Roasted malts, coffee hints, brown sugar and some dark dried fruit. Nice indeed, but too sweet. 747415 260806

Can at tasting shared with Joes, Judyvv, Ansjelaah, DutchDrebus and Laura. Cloudy hazy pale yellow color, medium sized quite rough white head. Aroma is green hops, light green apple. Flavor is lightly malts, citrusy hoppy, citrus peel, tart-ish bitter. Meh not a fan.

Tap at Ø. Hazy golden-yellow body, thick off-white head, big and lasting. And oh no, the typical creamy, earthy, resinous Ārpus IPA profile rears its ugly head in the aroma... Bit sourish and citrusy. Lean, dry taste for Ārpus standards, but tart, lemony, pine, resin, earthiness. Same as almost every other Ārpus IPA...

Tap at Drinkøteka. Ārpus with the big guns! Adequately chunky red body, no head. Tomato, salt and umami in the aroma, bit vegetal in a good way, light fishy touch. Smooth, chunky, hot tomato-driven taste, umami, peppers. Could have used some clamato to balance things out hahah, but it still works. The heat kinda overtakes the other flavors. There is some sweetness underneath the salt-heat onslaught. Anyway, a very fun tomato gose variant, so yay!
