Bottle shared at the Cotteridge Convention thanks to the brewery himself! It pours darkest brown with a small light tan head. The nose is rich roast, dark chocolate, gooey cake, earth and coffee. The taste is smooth, rich roast, chewy, dark chocolate, juicy chocolate cake, toast, earth and light ash. Medium+ body and moderate carbonation. Well-rounded, smooth and quaffable. Solid.

24th Jan 2014: shared bottle at The Cotteridge Wine meet, cheers Scopey. Dark brown body with lightly tanned head. The nose was a bit subdued at first, then I got some chocolate and coffee notes as I sniffed harder. The taste was malty chocolate, coffee and mixed fruits, ending with some liquorice notes. Pleasant.

24th Jan 2015: Shared bottle at Cotteridge Wine meet, cheers Scopey for this and the other bottle from these guys. Good clear, golden pour with an off white head. Citrus nose and leaning towards sourness (lemon style), the taste also citrus but sweeter with only a hint of lemons towards the finish: nice fruity IPA, most likely the best beer I have had from Portugal. The Passarola Double Oatmeal Stout, which was next was pretty good too!

Bottle share. Cotteridge Beano. Dark, chestnut brown. Aroma is rich, oaty, and chocolatey. Some chocolate malts. Taste and palate are rich, smooth, and chewy. Good stuff.

Bottle share. Cotteridge Beano. Clear gold. Thin, white head. Pretty juicy hop. Some lemon. Vibrant. Light dry. Light bitter. Tasty gear, and a huge relief from the muck that had preceded it!

The reminisence of some long forgotten childrens sweets comes flooding back to me as I swish this around my mouth, yes I get some liquorice a little coffee & some chocolate but its that great artificial confectionary twist that intrigues me. Bottle share warm up at Craft Clerkenwell. Thanks to Scopey. Hazy gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is smooth and a little dry. Decent fine carbonation. Light airy malts support decent hops - spicy, mild marmalade, little fresh orange and a touch of tropical fruits. Light semi dry finish with a hop spice linger and the bitterness ramping up. Decent IPA.

Review based on the BJCP2008 guidelines (style 13C). Bottle 33 cl - Batch L10614P. AROMA: mild roasted coffee-like aroma with a sweet character. low to none hop aromas. very faint DMS on the background and no fruitiness. APPEARANCE: very dark brown color with some ruby highlights. opaque. creamy brown head with good retention. TASTE: coffee-like flavour with sweet chocolate notes. low bitterness with a medium-sweet finish. PALATE: medium-full and mild velvety body. creamy with medium carbonation. some alcohol warmth. OVERALL: a good oatmeal stout, full of flavour and body. recommended.
