Taster at the brewery - nose is heavy on the chocolate, with light touches of vanilla and booze - slick texture - fairly boozy, medium sweet, but with balanced roast and bitterness - light tannic character - mild chocolate - vanilla is hard to notice - kinda hot finish - it’s okay.

Tulip at the brewery - hazy gold with a substantial head - fucking great example of a young brett saison - vibrant and fresh throughout, with grassy, pepper hops, some nice spicy phenols from the saison yeast, and subtle tropical funkiness from the brett - creamy texture - dry, flinty, lightly tart finish - really nice.

Pint at the brewery - turbid orange - soapy lace - kind of muddy and muddled all around, but a decent flavor profile under the muddiness - strong citric hop profile brings s bright-ish acidity to cut through the sweet, bready malt profile - moderate rye presence - eh, it’s alright.

Sample at Collaboration Fest on 03/19/2016. Hazy golden color with a medium thin white head that burns away steadily to a wispy film. Stringy lacing. Aroma of citrus, funky yeast, hops and malt. Light to medium body with flavors of citrusy hops, brett yeast and malt. The finish is funky with a citrus and herbal yeast aftertaste. Pretty good all around.

Pint at the brewery - hazy amber - I’m not often a fan of these British styles done with American hops, and this is not exactly an exception - the hop character is very spicy and seems a lot more bitter than the 37 ibu listed in the deScription - there is still a rich malt backbone, but it is dominated by the Munich malt they used, making this almost taste like a hoppy Oktoberfest at times - there is a slight minerality to it that lends a certain authenticity, but overall this a marginally enjoyable mish-mash of a beer.

Tulip at the brewery - turbid gold with a fluffy head - flavor is rustic, dry grains, peppery phenolic, lightly earthy/dusty yeast, tropical fruit hoppiness - soft texture - very dry and quite bitter - the addition of simcoe throws me off a bit, adding a kind of garlicky note - other than this, there is some nice stuff happening - spicy phenolics, tropical fruit, soft wheat malt flavors, background hints of funkiness - finish has the slightest huskiness to the malt character - needs a little cleaning up, but a lot of promise.
