Crowler into a snifter showing translucent coffee with sparse latte colored foam. The nose shows clean maple syrup. The palate is light bodied and moderately carbonated. Moderately sweet with a maple syrup forwardness supported on a roasted malt backbone. More maple forward sweetness on the finish with a roasted notes.

On tap at First Draft, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out hearty oats and some toasted malt. Flavour is similar, with rich oatmeal, medium roast and a touch of dark cocoa. Hearty and well-balanced. Very good.

10 ounce at the brewery - clear gold with a frothy head - nose is a nice combination of herbal hops and tropical Brett - flavor is mildly sweet, with a touch of pear - mild to moderate Brett in the form of pineapple and mildly plastic, Orval-ish phenols - overall kind of subdued - nothing pops and after a while everything just seems muddled and indistinct - surprising alcohol flavor on the tail end - starts strong, finishes weak.

16 ounce at the brewery - hazy gold - nose of rustic graininess, herbal hope, light pepper and mild tropical fruit - soft texture - medium dry, pepper, grass, herbs, light tartness, touches of tropical fruit - yeast expression is maybe a little too mellow for me, but it’s good.

Bottle at the 10th Boise Imperial Stout Tasting. Near black pour with a tan head. Big time aroma of maple syrup and really good espresso. Subtle sweet barrel notes. Impressive balance and depth of flavors. Sweet and inviting with vanilla and maple, rich espresso and light mocha notes. In an evening with many top imperial stouts this stood out as my favorite beer of the evening. Just amazing deliciousness.

Sample at Collaboration Fest on 03/25/2017. Clear dark maroon-amber color with a thin off-white head that dissipates quickly to a sparse outer ring. Spotty lacing. Aroma of citrus, hops and vanilla. Medium body with flavors of citrusy hops, berry, vanilla and malt. The finish is hoppy with a vanilla aftertaste. Pretty good overall.
