13/XII/14 - 33cl as "Not Totally Black" @ Dijleschuimers Bierproeffestival (Kessel-Lo) - BB: n/a (2014-1496) Thanks to the Antwerp Zythos crew and others for sharing beers at the table!

Clear dark brown beer, creamy beige head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: sweet, caramel, dark chocolate, cocoa powder, bit sugary, cookies. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: very roasted, little sweet, caramel, sour touch, pretty bitter. Aftertaste: roasted, mocha, bitter touch. Would totally not classify this under black IPA (only learned the beer style when entering my rating).

330ml bottle. Hazy, dark golden colour with huge, frothy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, off-white head. Fruity, hoppy aroma with notes of gooseberry, elderberry. Taste is dry, bitter hoppy, fruity, minimally tart, notes of gooseberry and elderberry. Sadly not the freshest exemplar, have to revisit.

330ml bottle. Darkest brown colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, tan head. Grassy and herbal hoppy aroma, hints of spearmint, menthol, green onions, roasty dark malty background, a touch of liquorice. Taste is bitter, roasty dark malty, slightly salty, a metallic touch of iron rust, herbal and bitter hoppy overtones. Not necessarily recommended for the first-time user.

Bottle at Craig’s. Pours hazy golden amber with a thin white head. Aromas of grapefruit, orange, tropical fruit. Taste is more orange. Finishes bitter. Good.

Bottle at Craig’s. Pours hazy amber, nose is all orange, taste is fizzy, over carbonated, light orange.

Leicht trübes orangegelbes Bier mit enorm großen weißen Schaumkrone. Geruch angenehm fruchtig hopfig, tropische Früchte, aber nur dezent. Geschmack leicht bitter hopfig, exotische Früchte, mild, gut!

Black with a creamy head. Quite a grassy, green hop aroma. Nice flavour of roasted bittersweet malts. Slightly herbal. Fresh and bitter hops too. Hint of chocolate in the aftertaste. An interesting Black IPA.

Bottle @ home. Hazy / murky orange to amber colour with a medium sized white to off-white head. Smells hops, fruity, fresh, bitter, some malts. Tastes hops, bitter, fresh, fruity. A bit watery/thin body. Carbo is nice, crisp, active.

Bottle @home. Dark brown to black colour with a large beige head. Smells roasty, coffee, some tar.. Not a lot of IPA scent. Tastes hops, roasty, some chocolate, some iron/rust. It?s nice but not balanced enough to be a great black ipa. Medium body, soft to medium carbo.
