Bottle from Lekkerbier, Sint Nicolaasga. Aroma is strong oak, Bourbon, ripe fruits, malt, caramel, vanilla, touch of resin with a mild touch of hops. Flavour is medium sweet and moderate bitter. Body is medium. I must admit that I’m a bit sceptical as to how well IIPA lends itself for (Bourbon) barrel aging and this beer has not alleviated me from that concern, since much of the fruity hoppiness has been subdued by the huge oak and Bourbon notes. That being said, there’s plenty to enjoy from this beer, it’s hardly a failure and it kind of works, just don’t expect huge hops and all the more barrel notes.

Bottle from Lekkerbier, Sint Nicolaasga. Aroma is chocolate, barrel, roast, whiskey, some alcohol, some red and dark fruity notes. Mild bittersweet flavour, body could be a bit more full. Still, pretty nice BA.

Bottle from Hilldevils. Aroma is very woody with vanilla, soft hops, caramel, malt, bourbon, ripe fruits, a bit of alcohol in the finish. Flavour is about medium sweet and moderate bitter. Body is medium to full. The bourbon really shines, aged hops, profile is somewhat like a BA American Strong Ale. Good.

Bottle from Hilldevils. Aroma is heavy on the wood chips with ripe fruits, muted hops, caramel malt, more wood, notes of orange. Flavour is sweetish with a long bitter finish. Body is medium. Quirky and different, a characteristic I appreciate this brewery for.

Bottle from Hilldevils. Aroma is full-on chili peppers with wood, roasted malt, chocolate, some coffee and whisky. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter with a potent chili burn. Body is medium to full. Big spicy chili burn with mostly wood from the barrel and subtle whisky. Tasty stuff for chili freaks such as myself, probably too much for average Joe.

Bottle from Hilldevils. Strong cedarwood aroma with spicy and herbal notes from the wood, malt, some caramel and pine, soft hops. Flavour is moderate sweet with a bitter finish. Body is medium. The cedarwood is quite dominant, but I happen to like the weird spicy/herbal woody aromas. Polarising I suppose!

Bottle from Hilldevils. Man, these guys do love their cedar wood. Aroma is roasted malt with lots of cedar wood, chocolate, spicy notes, caramel, vanilla pods, touch of liquorice. Flavour is medium sweet with a moderate roasty bitterness. Body is medium. Heavy on the cedar but I dig the spicy aromas coming from the wood, more fun Hilldevils quirkiness.

Bottle from Hilldevils. Aroma is strong vanilla with oak, hops, whisky, notes of ripe fruits, malt, some candied orange, caramel, more barrel notes. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet with a fairly bitter finish. Body is above medium. More IPA left in this one than the other BA IIPA's from Hilldevils that I enjoyed. Good stuff.
